Past Vendy Award Finalists on Gov. Island This Weekend: If you want to eat at Kwik Meal this weekend, you'll have to head to Governor's Island for the "City of Water Day" festival.  The event will feature past Vendy Award winners and finalists, including Fauzia’s Delights, the King of Falafel, Dosa Man, Sammy’s Halal, Kwik Meal, and the Arepa Lady (In a rare daytime appearance!) Plus the Street Vendor Project will have an info table, and if you buy your Vendy Awards ticket from them at the event you'll get a free 2009 Vendy Awards poster.

The press release says they're going after Starbucks, but here in NYC this will probably end up working as a play against Timmy Ho's.

How Long Will the Twittering Truck Trend Last?: My friend Norman forwarded along this MediaPost article that looks at the "perfect storm" of factors that has lead to the current explosion of trucks who twitter, and envisions a future where trucks will "tweet the wrong locations intentionally [to] weed out the fans from the superfans."

Bruni Asks About By the Pound Buffets: On the Diner's Journal Blog Frank Bruni wonders whether or not any blogs have tackled the issue of how to "game" a by the pound buffet.  Funny you should mention that... there just so happens to be a Midtown Lunch Guide to Buffet by the Pound Eating.

Twitter Tracker: Noticed a few interesting nuggets on the ML Twitter Tracker this morning... La Cense Burger Truck is now parking on 58th btw. 8+9th, and Wafels and Dinges is on 52nd btw. 6+7th today with a new "bacon & syrup waffle".

Golosi Expands to Koreatown: 5th Ave. between 32nd and 34th is becoming quite the ice cream hotspot. The blog Food in a Nutshell is reporting that Golosi has opened a gelato-only location on 5th btw. 32nd+33rd. Although if I'm in that area, it would take a lot to pull me away from the amazing frozen custard being sold at the newly opened Spoon City (on 5th btw. 33+34th).
