Free Ice Cream Alert: In celebration of National Ice Cream month (who knew?), Blue Bunny Ice Cream will be giving away free "Champ! Cones" on 50th & 7th Ave. beginning at Noon today, Wednesday, and Thursday. I guess this is their way of letting people know that they no longer top their cones with peanuts that might have salmonella.

Choong Moo Ro Introduces new $3 Lunch Special: If you thought that $5 May lunch special at Shilla was an amazing deal, Peter Cherches has discoverd a new $2.95 (!) Koreatown special over at Choong Moo Ro (on 32nd btw. 5th+B'way.) And speaking of Shilla, the same post reports that they have a new $5.95 lunch special. Nice. [Word of Mouth]

Free Tim Hortons Update: Getting conflicting info about the Monday morning free coffee giveaway from Tim Hortons, the Canadian chain replacing all Riese owned Dunkin Donuts locations on Monday morning. According to their newly created Twitter account, free coffee will be given out at all locations, all day long (starting at 6am). This conflicts with the original giveaway info, so as soon as I get the full confirmation I'll post it here. UPDATE: The official press release confirms the original info- free coffee, only at the Penn Station location, from 6-9am.

Free Tim Hortons Alert: Monday morning, Tim Hortons will celebrate their arrival in New York City by giving away free coffee at their Penn Station location (in the LIRR concourse) from 6am to 9am.

Dessert Truck Goes Savory: Starting today the Dessert Truck will be serving their very first non-dessert items: A smoked salmon sandwich (w/ cream cheese and chives on light puff dough) and a bacon & cheddar bread pudding. Both new items will sell for $5. The truck parks daily on 55th btw. Lex+3rd.

TONY’s Street Food Picks: On the topic of street meat... Time Out New York published their list of the best "mobile eats" in New York City today. The list is kind of all over the place, but includes SMP2 winner Kwik Meal plus a few other Midtown Lunch faves- like Kim's Aunt Kitchen Cart and the Street Sweets Truck.
