Seeking: buffalo chicken cheesesteak

Moons

I'm from Philly and these things started to become almost as available as regular cheesesteaks by the time I moved, but I haven't seen a single mention of one anywhere up here. Anyone know of anyplace that has a decent one? Or has one at all?

    Shorty's @ 9th ave bet 41st and 42nd is pretty good.

  2. I'm also from philly, and I used to eat those all the time. I've had one once in this city, when I had to give instructions to some random deli on what I wanted. It did not hit the spot. I haven't even found a place that understands the concept

YOu could also try Wogie's but there not in midtown. (www.wogies.com)

  4. I have not yet dared to visit, since I don't think it could possibly live up to my standards (I go to school in Philly), but there is a place near Union Sq called 99 Miles To Philly that also has a Midtown East location on 52nd St.

Maybe we can get Zach to suggest this as a ML Challenge tot he Papa Perrone truck? What ever happened with that? We need to get the sandwich challenge back. It was sheer brilliance.

I thought I just read 99 Miles to Philly just closed

Yeah, the Midtown branch of 99 Miles to Philly is closed

As much as I love Wogie's cheesesteaks and their wings, you'd think their buff chix chstk would be perfect. But for some reason it left A LOT to be desired. The chicken was too finely chopped, dry, and the ratios were all off. (The Pookie, on the other hand, is pretty killer)

Slightly skewing the topic, but by far my favorite in Philly was from Mina's on Ridge in Roxborough. Hole in the wall but the best ones usually are; it's actually destination eating if I'm anywhere near there.

  9. I have to agree with that first comment about Shorty's. Their Buffalo Chicken Steak is great. I don't really like it when it's a cutlet. They do it like a chicken steak sandwich, but with hot sauce and blue cheese. So it's really juicy. With lettuce and tomato. Honestly, it is no joke.

  10. Philly Slim's on 9th Ave, between 52nd & 53rd.

  11. What's the scouting report on Philly Slim's? Never heard of it.
