The burger is likely Kofta. The 6th ave cart started this a month or two back:

Interesting. It probably was kofta, but it was in patty form, like a burger, instead of in kebab form, on a stick. Still, it was good, and free, which is even better.

I wonder if the cart guys read the blog. Within the last couple of days there was that thread about the 53rd and 7th cart declining in quality. Today, I went for my usual, combo over salad, no rice, with pita and onion and peppers, a little white sauce and a little hot sauce. The guy had something I hadn't seen before cooking on the grill and gave me half of it, unasked for. It appears to be some kind of lamb burger. Its a little dry, but well seasoned. Wondering if they're trying to make it up to their regulars or if they're just trying something new. Anyone else get a freebie today?
