It only took 3 years, but pizza finally returned to Rock Center this year while $1 pizza continued its march across the city.  And we still don’t have a consensus best slice in Midtown.  If only Pizza Suprema was a few blocks farther north, maybe it would quality… alas, it isn’t.  So here are your nominees for best pizza in Midtown:

Best Midtown Street Meat: 2011 Readers’ Poll

Every year a select group of Midtown Lunchers convene in Bryant Park for a giant chicken and lamb over rice taste off known as Street Meat Palooza. This year Comme Ci Comme Ca shocked everybody by taking the title with their unique brand of chicken and lamb merguez over rice with white sauce and hot sauce.  Agree or disagree, here’s your chance to sound off. And with last year’s winner Kwik Meal shedding customers from a recent price hike, it could be anybody’s game this year.  Here are the nominees for best street meat in Midtown:

in 2010 we were all about the huge leap forward in Midtown coffee.  This year, everybody else seemed to take notice.  2011 will also be remembered as the year that Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf hit Midtown, and the last year that Rock Center was Blue Bottle-less.  Will last year’s surprise winner, Financier, be able to hold off JOE, Culture and Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf to repeat?   Here are the nominees for best coffee in Midtown:

Best Midtown Ramen: 2011 Readers’ Poll

It’s time for the 2011 Midtown Lunch Readers’ Poll. It’s hard to believe that two years ago Menchanko Tei and Sapporo were fighting it out for the title of best ramen in Midtown.  Now there’s Hide Chan and Totto Ramen, whose lines can sometime make them feel like baby Ippudos.  This year Tabata got thrown into the mix, to some pretty strong reviews (including a write up in the New York Times!?)  Is it strong enough to unseat last year’s winner?  Or will Totto Ramen reign supreme again.  Here are the nominees for Best Ramen in Midtown:

After last year’s burger mania things settled down a bit in 2011. But the debate over who makes the best burger in Midtown is still as contentious as ever. Can Five Guys repeat their victory from last year? Or has the Shake Shack backlash died down enough for them to take their place on top of the heap? Nominations Are Now Open For The 2011 Midtown Lunch Reader’s Poll



Next week polls will open for the 2011 Midtown Lunch Reader’s Poll, but before we open the individual categories up for a vote we want to get your nominees. Have a favorite lunch spot you think needs to be highlighted? A best burger? Favorite cup of coffee? Maybe it’s a particular sandwich from a food truck? Let us know in the comments. Include as many or few nominees as you like, and we’ll take them all into consideration when we put together the finalists for each of the polls. And most importantly… if you don’t nominate anybody, you can’t bitch!
