Clarke’s Standard to Replace 54th and Lex Goodburger

Several Midtown Lunchers have noted in posts and by contacting us directly, that the Goodburger on 54th and Lex has closed. According to the New York Times, Phil Scotti, owner of the prolific P.J. Clarke’s bar/restaurant chain (which serves a damn good but somewhat expensive burger) will be opening a spinoff called Clarke’s Standard in this Northeast Midtown locale. The Times reports more burgers will be served, along with chili, sandwiches, and ice cream in Dixie Cups (we’re guessing the kind you eat with the tiny wooden spatulas). When the ML Team went by to check it out, the remnants of Goodburger’s sign were still visible, while the window clearly signaled Clarke’s Standard impending presence… we’re movin’ in! We asked someone working on the renovation when they’ll be open. He expected if not by the end of the year, then early 2013.

Goodburger on 45th is Now Closed

It looks like the massive Midtown burger explosion of 2010 has finally caught up with at least one spot in Midtown.  The Goodburger on 45th street btw. 5+6th has been shuttered.  Apparently their rent got raised, and there’s just “too much food on the block” so they had seen a decrease in customers. I’m sure having Shack Shack two avenues to the West, and Bill’s Bar & Burger 5 blocks to the north didn’t help either.  Goodburger fans shouldn’t worry though.  The rest of the locations are doing just fine, and ready to pick up the slack from the 45h street location.  Thanks to Lunch’er Marissa for the tip.

Up to 30% off Goodburger For the Next 5 Days: Goodburger is currently running a promotion for up to 30% off every combo meal for those who are in the mood for a late lunch or mid-afternoon "snack". It's only good through the end of October, so print the coupon or show it on your phone to fulfill those cheap burger cravings on the cheap while you can!

Goodburger to Celebrate B’day With $1 Burgers

It was one year ago that the newest Goodburger (on 8th Ave. btw. 57+58th) opened for business, and to celebrate their first birthday they’re throwing a party. Tomorrow, Tuesday 7/26, they will be serving up $2 milkshakes and $1 burgers from Noon to 6pm, and you can see them blow out birthday candles, and score free cake, at 1pm.

$2 Milkshakes at Goodburger: July is National Ice Cream Month (who knew!?) so every Tuesday and Thursday starting today, between the hours of 3-5pm, Goodburger will sell small milkshakes at all their locations for just $2. That's $2 milk shakes, 2 days a week, all month long. Enjoy!

Last Chance For $1 Goodburger: Since burger month ends on Tuesday, today is the last day for Goodburger's "Single For a Single" burger promotion.  From 3-5pm today you'll be able to get a single Goodburger with the works for just $1.  Limit 5 per customer, good for in store purchase only.

$1 Goodburger Alert: Looking for a super cheap late lunch (or early dinner?) In honor of National Burger Month, Goodburger will be dishing up single burgers with the works for a single (aka $1) every Wednesday in May from 3-5pm.  Maximum of 5 burgers per customer, for in-store purchase only.

Goodburger Grand Opening Special: New Combo for $5

The newest Goodburger (on 8th Ave. btw. 57+58th) is now open and it’s already making waves.  Apparently they’re testing out a slightly different menu at the new location.  In order to offer more affordable options, they’ve introduced a new “single” burger which is 4oz instead of 5.5oz.  The “classic” 5.5oz burger is still available, but for those who want to spend a bit less money they’ll now have the “single” option.  We’ve never really subscribed to the less is more thing, but just an FYI- the burger at the Shake Shack is 4oz.  And, the best news about this change is that now a combo at the new Goodburger, with a “single” burger, fries and a soda will run you a ML friendly $8.27 (at the other Goodburger locations, a combo with the 5.5oz burger goes for $10.35.)  There’s also a smaller milkshake option, and a new ice cream sandwich dessert.  With all the burger craziness going on in Midtown these days (Shake Shake, Bill Bar & Burger, 4Food, and the Counter are all coming soon) it’s no surprise that Goodburger would want to shake things up a bit… and I have to say it’s nice to see a Goodburger combo finally come in under the $10 mark.

The new option is only available at the newly opened 8th Ave. location, but if the response is good they’ll roll it out to the other locations. Want to try it out for yourself?  Today only, from 11am to 3pm you can get the new Goodburger Combo #1 for just $5.  All you have to do to score the deal is mention Midtown Lunch. (Only available in the new store on 8th Ave. btw. 57+58th.  Not for delivery, limit one per customer.

Want to check out the new menu?  It’s after the jump.

Goodburger To Open By Columbus Circle

Good Burger 8th Ave btw W 57+58

A new Goodburger (on 8th Ave. btw. 57+58th) is coming soon to the Columbus Circle area! I’ll admit, I’ve not yet walked into one of these places (I’m more of a Shake Shack kind of girl), but I have always been curious about the “Steak & Egg” burger. No word on when it will open.
