Little Italy Pizza Opens Another Location

I’m excited to welcome our newest contributor Clay, from the blog Ultraclay. (You might have seen him on NBC4 this morning!) He’s a great photographer, and a big eater… and is responsible for introducing me to Little Italy Pizza- which has just opened up a new branch on 7th Ave. Here’s his report. -Zach

Little Italy Pizza (on 33rd btw. Mad+5th) may not be the cheapest in the area, now that a new 99 cent place has popped up on the same block. And according to some, it may not beat out Squisito (on 34th btw. Mad+Park) for best slice in the area, but I’m a big fan of their margarita pizza- and the owners recently opened up a new, almost identical location on 33rd near 7th ave.

Squisito Declared Best Pizza Slice Near the Empire State Building

Always Hungry has taken on the massive task of finding the best slice of pizza near the Empire State Building, and all I can say is… wow. They visited a ton of places, including Little Italy (on 33rd and 5th), Sabina’s aka Kabab and Grill (on 36th btw. 6+7th), Cafe Rustico II (on 35th btw. 5+6th), Aroma (the Kosher spot with the fake pepperoni on 36th btw. 5+6th), Arome (on 32nd btw. 6+7th), and even the pizza inside of Gyro II (on 7th btw. 33+34th). Their verdict… Squisito (on 34th btw. Mad+Park) beats out Little Italy for the top spot.

Little Italy Pizza

I don’t know if 33rd Street and 5th Ave. is technically considered Koreatown, but if it is- than the Little Italy Pizza situated on that corner is the best pizza in Koreatown. I found it very difficult to travel down to that neck of the Midtown Lunch’ing woods for something other than bi bim bap and bulgogi, but after reading Ultraclay’s report on Little Italy Pizza- I knew I’d eventually have to give it a try.

Which Little Italy Pizza is the Best?

In Midtown it looks like “Little Italy Pizza” is becoming the new “Famous Ray’s”. I’ve written about the Little Italy Pizza on 45th btw. 5+6th, and then there is the arguably more famous Little Italy Pizza on 43rd btw. Mad+5th (which lost out to Two Boots by a narrow margin for best pizza in the 2007 Readers’ Poll.) But did you know there is actually a 3rd (Famous) Little Italy Pizza! Ultraclay has the report about this pizza place on 5th Ave. btw. 32+33rd, and from the looks of the pizza, and the comments on Yelp- this looks like it could be a new contender for best fast food pizza in Midtown.
