Uncle Gussy’s is Opening a Greek Coffee Cart Today!

Uncle Gussy's Treats Coffee Cart

There have been a lot of new trucks and carts that hit the road this year, but I have to admit that this one has me very excited. The guys from Uncle Gussy’s are opening a coffee cart today and their menu looks awesome. Read more »

Braised Beef Noodle Soup is a Winner at Radiance Noodle Bar

Sometimes a great lunch spot is right under your nose and you don’t even know it. Take Radiance Noodle Bar, for instance. Buried in the basement of 805 3rd Ave. (btw 49th+50th), it’s only a few blocks from my office, but I only found out about it when Luncher Joer recommended I check it out. And I’m glad I did.

Yogi BBQ Cart’s Gyro Brings Korean & Greek Together

Way back in 2012, Anna reviewed the Yogi BBQ Cart, then a newcomer offering Korean fusion in Midtown East. Anna was pleased by the cart’s tacos, but was intrigued by the Korean gyro she saw on the menu. So when I saw the Yogi Cart on the corner of 3rd Ave. and 49th, I jumped at the opportunity to try some Korean-Greek fusion.

Treehaus is Hiding Delicious Ramen w/ Freshly Made Noodles Upstairs at Nikai

We’ve covered Treehaus pretty extensively, from its sandwiches and hot food bar to Kosofresh, the Chipotle-esque Korean bibimbap bar. But did you know that Treehaus also houses a ramen and soba restaurant? It’s true, right next to the upstairs dining area is Nikai, and they’re are serving up good, fresh, and affordable noodles.

Crisp Express Replaces Simply Sliders

Earlier this month, we reported that Crisp‘s 3rd Ave. location closed after their lease ran out. We were sad to see them go, but before it can really set in, Crisp Express opened this week on 43rd St. (btw 3rd+Lex), where Simply Sliders used to be. Their menu looks smaller than before (it is ‘Express’ after all), offering a few different falafel sandwiches, hummus, and salads. So we’ve got out gourmet falafel back in Midtown East, but we’ve lost our sliders. Are you happy with the trade?

Mayhem & Stout Makes a Winning Buffalo Chicken Sandwich

Earlier this summer, Chris went on a search for the best buffalo chicken wrap in Midtown, reminding me just how well buffalo wings translate into sandwich form. So when I stopped by Mayhem & Stout last month, I was intrigued by buffalo chicken combination on their menu. It was only a matter of time before I made my way back to try it.

Hot Clay Oven’s Naan Wrap Is Tasty, But Too Pricey for Indian

Last week, Hot Clay Oven finally opened on 3rd Ave. (btw 44th+45th) in Midtown East. You probably already know the drill for the “Indian Chipotle“: you choose whether you want a wrap, naan wrap, rice bowl, or salad, and get to pick from a menu of proteins, toppings, and sauces. So, how does the newest location stack up?

Crisp Has Closed Its 3rd Ave. Location

Got some bad news from a couple of tipsters at the end of last week. Gourmet falafel chain Crisp has closed it’s 3rd Ave. location (btw 43rd+44th). According to the sign seen above, their lease is up and they’ve chosen not to renew it. Sure, their falafel was overpriced, but some of their more inventive offerings were pretty damned good (I personally enjoyed the Africa), and it was one of the only places I know of that let you add french fries inside your sandwich. Their location on West 40th is still open, but they’ll be missed over on 3rd.

Hot Clay Oven Opens With 50% Off Deal

Hot Clay Oven, otherwise known as the Indian Chipotle, is now open on 3rd Ave. (btw 44th+45th), and they’re offering 50% off all entrees, plus unlimited toppings, for a limited time. The Indian fusion spot already has a location downtown, and offers a menu of wraps, rice, and salad bowls with a number of proteins, sauces, and toppings to choose from. We’ll have a review soon, but early adopters let us know what you think.  (Thanks to Lunch’er James for the tip!)

Blue Dog Kitchen Sports an Impressive Sandwich Menu

Blue Dog recently opened a new location on West 50th street, and after reading about their wide array of sandwiches in Sarah’s Flatiron post, I was suddenly excited for sandwiches, myself.

The new location has more seating than its flatiron counterpart, but the lunchtime line does still wind around the tables, and much of the space is taken up by people waiting for their food. The vibe, though, is laid back, and if I had more time or worked closer, I would certainly like to eat in. But alas, the luxury of time is not usually on my side, and I took my sandwiches to go.
