Crisp Express Replaces Simply Sliders

Earlier this month, we reported that Crisp‘s 3rd Ave. location closed after their lease ran out. We were sad to see them go, but before it can really set in, Crisp Express opened this week on 43rd St. (btw 3rd+Lex), where Simply Sliders used to be. Their menu looks smaller than before (it is ‘Express’ after all), offering a few different falafel sandwiches, hummus, and salads. So we’ve got out gourmet falafel back in Midtown East, but we’ve lost our sliders. Are you happy with the trade?

  • I went to Simply Sliders after viewing your last post on them this Summer. I didn’t enjoy the food. Hopefully this place is much better.

  • Wanted to try simply sliders but never got over there.

I don’t remember what street it was, maybe 50th btwn 6th and 7th, but there was a new cart called Potato House that serves baked potatoes.

  • yea, its 50th btw 6/7. i think its like $7 for a potato with 2 “salads”. not sure if the salads go on top of accompany it. regardless, i was not about to pay $7 for a baked potato.

    • If you’re nearby, The Potato King cart has been on 39th and Broadway for years. $4.50 for a baked potato with a long list of toppings, like chili, cheese, bacon, broccoli, spinach, mushrooms, mixed veggies, etc. Nothing “artisan” here (you’re getting what you pay for), but a decent deal and big portions.

Hooray! Crisp was a lunch favorite of mine…and even a dinner option (I work from home in Midtown east) so I have missed them since the 3rd Ave location closed. When I got their e-mail saying they were coming back, I was very happy. Hope I can get those Crisp Africa and Mexican pita sandwiches again at this Express location.

I absolutely LOVED Simply Sliders. The Kefta burger was my favorite and their lemonade was was awesome. I was shocked when I saw a different chain take their place. Really sad. Does anybody know if they have another location?
