Contributor Stalking (The “Carne Asada Fries” Edition)

Brownie took her baby to Xi’an Famous Foods, while Blondie was eating ice cream sandwiches at 3 Tarts in Chelsea.  Clay spent some time on the newly open section of the Highline, Donny was unimpressed by the Montreal bagels at the brand new B&B Empire Bistro, and Brian loved the snails over at Kaz An Nou in Prospect Heights.

Around the rest of the ML empire… Andrea  notices that Sigmund Pretzel Shop has set up a cart in Bowling Green,  Jamie finds some great samosas in Philly, and I discover the awesome-ness that is carne asada fries in Los Angeles.

Donny’s photography project got him in the kitchen with the Robicellis, Brian is polling readers on who has the best bagels in town, Brownie made a ridiculously cute cake for her little one’s first birthday, Blondie stuffed chocolate chip cookies with oreos and I’ve become obsessed with Instagram.

Elsewhere in the ML Universe, Andrea shelled out $17 at the new Luke’s Lobster, Jamie discovered Nicaraguan food in a South Philly grocery store and Zach gorged himself on fries topped with carne asada, crema and guacamole.

Brian owns up to his addiction to frozen water with a review of the shaved ice at Ice Fire Land in Flushing, Brownie is in the mood for pie, Blondie had some amazing looking meatballs at Northern Spy Food Co, Donny is swooning over bacon marmalade, and I checked out the opening day of Smorgasburg.

Elsewhere in the ML Universe… Andrea took a closer look at Nixtamalito for the Jury Duty set, Jamie found a deli that sells Korean sandwiches, overstuffed panini and breakfast all day, and Zach did his best to convert readers to the joys of pig’s feet.

Doughnuts from Dough

Chris H.discovers an old school Korean restaurant serving greenmarket cuisine in Flushing,  Brownie discovers the best doughnut ever at Dough’s in Clinton Hill, Blondie checks out a brand new bakery in Bayside, Clay posted some tasty looking photos of the Brooklyn Flea on his Tumblr account, Donny had a great meal at the re-opened Brooklyn Star, and Brian gives the pork milanese at Roman’s a 10 out of 10.

Elsewhere in the ML Universe… Andrea discovers a pizza sandwich of sorts at Pizza Pizza in the FiDi, Jamie eats the grossest looking soup I’ve ever seen, from Le Bus in Philly, and declares it delicious, and I penned a swan song for Pollo ala Brasa– a classic Peruvian rotisserie chicken place in L.A.’s Koreatown.

Forget about Eataly… Midtown needs a branch of La Grande Epicerie.

Blondie was in Kansas for a week, where she had frozen custard at a Royals game, and then check out all the food options at the Brooklyn Flea, Donny had Roberta’s bee sting pizza at the pop up market near Madison Square park, Brian H hit up H&H in his never-ending quest to find the best bagel in NYC, Clay tried Singapore Malaysia Beef Jerky in Chinatown, and Chris H had a four star meal at the Bar Room at the Modern.

Elsewhere in the ML Universe… Andrea is a big fan of Nixtamalito, the new FiDi kiosk from Tortilleria Nixtamal, plus reported that the Fatty Snacks kiosk opens today behind the World Financial Center. Jamie is a fan of the Korean cheesesteak in Philly, and I was actually in Paris for a few days where I had this beautiful lunch.

On Chris H.’s mission to explore the food of Flushing, he discovered pork belly cooked on crystal. Blondie went to a lunch with Bobby Flay and is giving away the gift bag, full of goodies. Brownie discovered the wonders of great hot chocolate at Eataly. Brian continued his search for the great New York bagel at Ess-a-Bagel’s original branch. Donny took some amazing photos at chef Nate Smith’s pop up lamb dinner. Meanwhile, I’ve been posting food photos shot on film on Analog UltraClay.

Around the rest of the ML universe… Zach posted about a tasty looking Grilled Cheese at Oaks Gourmet, Jamie tried out the Guapos Taco Truck from Jose Garces and Andrea checked out the new AsiaDog shop in Nolita.

Contributor Stalking (The “FiDi Cart Roti” Edition)

Do you wonder what the ML contributors do when they’re not eating lunch in Midtown? (They’re actually pretty easy to stalk!)

Brownie had a jelly doughnut from Patisserie Colson in Brooklyn, while Blondie was having another of Robicelli’s chicken and waffle cupcakes at NYU’s ecofair. Donny had the Santana Pete from Shopsin’s (and didn’t regret it), Clay posted some great butcher shop photos from his trip to Hong Kong while back, Chris H had a mediocre bowl of noodles at the Men Kui Tei in the East Village, and Brian H. thought the radish salad from Radish in Williamsburg was just ok.

Around the rest of the ML universe… Andrea had an amazing roti from the Trinidad & Tobago cart Downtown, Jamie hands over the reigns of the Philly site to Lunch’er Stephanie, who had a good meal at Penang, and I had one of the best banh mi of all time at a new restaurant in Downtown L.A.

Blondie checked out 2010 Vendy Fave Patacon Pisao in Elmhurst, while Brownie reported that Robicelli’s cupcakes are now available at Qathra in Ditmas Park. Ultraclay was in Barcelona recently, and hit up Boqueria for some vacation nostalgia, Donny had some delicious pernil from Tio Pio on Court St. in Brooklyn, Brian Hoffman had a fried bologna sandwich at Seersucker in Carroll Gardens, and Chris H had a great dinner at Tenpenny on 46th Street.

Around the rest of the ML Universe… Andrea discovered secret slices at Rubirosa downtown, Jamie does some serious pre-Passover carbo loading in Philly, and I had one of the great tacos I’ve ever eaten in my life from a truck in Los Angeles.

Contributor Stalking (The “Now This is a Salad We’d Eat” Edition)

Brownie recommends a salad from Paulie Gee’s in Greenpoint that we can all get behind, while Blondie introduced yet another person to Shopsin’s.  Chris H. gave 4 stars to Tenpenny in Midtown East, Donny had a “fantastic” burger at Dubuque in Carroll Gardens, and Ultraclay drooled over the doughnuts at Dough in Bed-Stuy. And our newest contributor Brian had the honey rosemary ice cream at DessertTruck Works as part of his effort to eat through TONY’s Top 100 Dishes of the Year.

Around the rest of the ML Universe, Andrea had one of the best pita sandwiches she’s ever eaten down in the FiDi, Jamie got herself into a hairy situation eating mutton in Philly, and I took one of my favorite Los Angeles food trucks to task for trying to spin their closure as happy news.

Chris H. was in New Orleans, where he scored a delicious looking hot muffuletta at Napoleon House, Blondie went to Flushing over the weekend and discovered a love for malaysian food and a new food court that is hopefully opening soon, Ultraclay had a nice looking brunch at Bedford Hill in Bed-Stuy, and Donny got a huge lunch at Kong Kee Food Corp in Chinatown for $3.50.

Around the rest of the ML Universe… Andrea tried the fried chicken at Cornerston in Tribeca, Jamie discovers chaat in a Center City food court, and I had the best biryani and tandoori chicken I’ve ever had in my life at a place in Los Angeles.
