Is it our imagination or does the coffee in Midtown just get better and better every year? Just a year and half ago, Zach was flipping out about Iced Capp’s from Tim Horton’s (amateur), and now you can get Stumptown from a truck. What a world, what a world. Here are the nominees for best coffee in Midtown:

Anybody can snag the coupon, but only the first hundred people who take it to the truck score the freebie. (And they should be on 46th btw. 5+6th right now.)

Best Korean Fast Food: 2010 Reader’s Poll

It’s time for the 4th Annual Midtown Lunch Readers’ Poll. Your nominations are in, and between now and the end of the year we’ll be asking all of you to vote for the best Midtown Lunches in a whole range of categories. You can only vote once per category (so choose wisely), and official results will be posted after the new year.

It’s no secret that when Zach started Midtown Lunch he purposefully extended the southern boundaries of Midtown an extra two blocks to 32nd Street so that he could justify eating in Koreatown (the man loves Korean food!)  Since then Korean food has migrated north, and is now accessible even for those who can’t make it down to 32nd and back to their office in under an hour.  Woorjip has dominated this category every year since we started doing  the reader’s poll.  But Bapcha and Bann Next Door came on strong in 2010.  Could this be the year that Woorjip finally gets unseated? It’s Gingerbread Time at the Treats Truck!

Treats Truck
You know it’s the holiday season when ginger treats start popping up. The other day, courtesy of the ML Twitter Tracker, I saw that Treats Truck was packing gingerbread men. Given Blondie and my devotion to all things Treats Truck (if you regularly read our blog, you might have noticed that we’ve reviewed just a few of Kim’s treats…) I had to go check it out. Not much has changed in the world of Midtown Indian food this year (unless you include Grill 44 ditching their Middle Eastern food and becoming 44 Curry House.) Our fast food Indian category has been dominated by the Biryani Cart for two years straight, so to give the other guys a chance (and find the best place for Indian food other than biryani and kati rolls) we decided to change things up this year. Here are the nominees for best Indian steam table in Midtown:

Falafel, Pizza & Politicking: There's a lot of jockeying for votes on the ML Twitter Tracker today... also Sweetery is on 52nd, Schnitzel & Things is in the Flatiron, Comme Ci Comme Ca is on 55th, Eddie's Pizza Truck is on 46th, and Taim Mobile is on 51st.

Half a Year Later, Mexicue Keeps on Truckin’

Mexicue Truck

It’s been about 5 months since the launch of Mexicue, and I’ve watched the steady patter of positive and negative commentary since my original assessment, with interest. Noticing they recently came under the good graces of the New York Times, I decided it was time for a re-visit. During my previous write-up, I’d commented that the food doesn’t shy from big flavors, though the portions are restrained and the operations needed a good deal of improvement. As the old saying goes, practice makes perfect, and while these guys still have room for improvement, they’ve certainly come a long way.

Next to street meat nothing says Midtown Lunch more than falafel, a notion solidified by the fact that the second week of ML’s existence was dubbed “Falafel Week”. A few of those places are still around over 4 years later, but with the arrival of Maoz and Crisp they couldn’t take home the top prize. Will this year be any different? Here are the nominees for best falafel in Midtown:
