On the ML Twitter Tracker: Have you not tried all the Best New Food Truck nominees?  A lot of them are in Midtown today according to the ML Twitter Tracker. Korilla is on 54th, Comme Ci Comme Ca is on 55th, and Taim Mobile is on 46th. Also Frites N Meats is on 52nd, Cupcake Stop is on 52nd, Wafels & Dinges cart is on 40th, and Rickshaw is on 50th.

The Counter Officially Opens Today

If you didn’t win a spot into the Midtown Luncher preview of The Counter (on B’way and 41st in Times Square), today is the big day. They soft opened over the weekend, but today is the official grand opening. Need a little preview? Zach had this to say about one of the Los Angeles locations, and Lunch’er Matt sent in this account of his free lunch. Either way we recommend you look at the menu before heading over. It can get a bit intimidating trying to decide on toppings. They open at 11am.

Best New Food Truck: 2010 Reader’s Poll

It’s time for the 4th Annual Midtown Lunch Readers’ Poll. Your nominations are in, and between now and the end of the year we’ll be asking all of you to vote for the best Midtown Lunches in a whole range of categories. You can only vote once per category (so choose wisely), and official results will be posted after the new year.

The food truck train kept rolling in 2010, and despite all the obstacles to setting up shop in Midtown it doesn’t seem to be slowing down- despite the efforts of a certain city council member. And even more notable than that, we finally got fusion tacos in Midtown! Here are the nominees for best new savory food truck:

Vote for your favorite after the jump…

Tri Tip Also Does French Toast for Breakfast

Tri Tip

I like to start my day with breakfast, but some days I just don’t have the time to get some grub going before I get to work. Jeremiah’s post about Tri Tip’s new breakfast sandwich looked pretty awesome, so I decided to check out their breakfast offerings myself.

O’Brien’s Irish Pub Is the Perfect Post Biryani Cart Happy Hour

If you like to eat, chances are you like to drink (read: a lot of you are freakin’ lushes), so every week our Happy Hour Correspondent “Mamacita” will post about a different bar in Midtown that fits the Midtown Lunch mentality: unhealthy food, not lame (unless it’s lame in a cool way), and most importantly… cheap.

On a recent post–work trip to the Biryani Cart I noticed O’Brien’s Irish Pub just down the block. How did this bar escape my attention? Oh yeah, probably because I was too busy shoving a kati roll with a double dose of spicy green habanero-mint sauce in my face! Well, this night was different.  The weather was finger numbing and ducking into a cozy bar to warm up was essential. O’Brien’s was decked out in holiday decorations and the soft glow of Christmas lights strung up all around the walls created a candle lit aura. A drink was ordered, but little did I know that I’d also get some eye candy with that.

And Now The Holiday Card Everybody’s Been Waiting For (NSFW)

Ever since Mamacita hit up Rick’s Cabaret for their $10 lunch special we’ve been lucky (?) enough to be on their Holiday Cart mailing list… and this year’s doozy arrived yesterday.   Shockingly, it’s kind of dirtier than last year (if that’s even possible.)

Beware, clicking on the jump is decidedly not safe for work…

52nd St. & The Flatiron Are the Places to Be Today: On the ML Twitter Tracker today... Wafels & Dinges, Mexicue, and Schnitzel & Things are all on 52nd, Rickshaw is on 45th, Taim, Eddie's Pizza,  and Korilla are in the Flatiron,  and Uncle Gussy's has homemade beef barley soup.

Cevap Truck Brings Balkan Sausage to the Flatiron

Every Friday our man UltraClay goes south of the ML boundaries in search of a delicious lunch. Sometimes it’s Murray Hill south or the Flatiron District, sometimes Gramercy and everything in between- but we just like to call it Flatiron Lunch.

I not a big fan of shilling in the forums, so I was a little bit put off by this post from “Luncher Khubird” promoting the new Cevap Truck in Flatiron. But that all went away when I ended up passing by the truck on the way to drop off some film. Shillers or not, the menu looked pretty tasty and I just couldn’t pass up trying it…
