Tri Tip Grill’s Bacon Cheddar Buck is a Winner

Tri Tip Grill

Ever since I started writing here on Midtown Lunch, I have heard of Tri Tip Grill (loved by many Midtown Lunch’ers). I wanted to try them and I knew I should try them. But things kept coming up and I just never had the time to trek up to the Rockefeller Center. Then finally at the Midtown Lunch 5th Year Anniversary I was able to try their roast beef. After eating 1 (followed by 3 more), I knew what all the craze was about.

Now with their Grand Central location opened for business, I can enjoy as many roast beef sandwiches as I want. And for my 1st one I decided to try something special.

Buy One Get One Free Breakfast at Tri Tip

Tri Tip French ToastApparently September is National Breakfast Month (who knew?), and to celebrate Tri Tip Grill (in the Rock Center concourse) is offering a buy one breakfast get one free special all month long. The deal’s only good from 9-10am, and the free breakfast must we of “equal or lesser value” to the one you pay for. Valid through Sept 30th. The ML crew has given the thumbs up to the Brandy French Toast and the Buck Muffin, so if you’re the breakfast eating sort it might be worth grabbing a co-worker and splitting the bill.

Your First Look at the Tri Tip Grill Grand Central

The dining options in Grand Central are about to get a lot more interesting with Tri Tip Grill and Shake Shack set to occupy nearby spots in the downstairs concourse of the station. Working in Rock Center I’ve become a fan of Tri Tip and I’ve been curious how they’ll operate in the old Central Market Grill space. We checked in with the owner Dave Kassling, who gave us a peek at the rendering of the new space.

Highlights From Our 5th Birthday Party

Crowd shot

On Saturday we gathered together at City Winery with a couple hundred of our closest friends to celebrate the 5 year anniversary of Midtown Lunch (yes, we too are surprised this thing has been around for 5 years!)   A great time was had by all thanks to the amazing food (provided graciously by Kwik Meal, The Biryani Cart, Cer Te, Ma Peche, Food Gallery 32, El Rey del Sabor, Tri Tip Grill, Wafels & Dinges, Miss Softee & the Rolling Cones, Kelvin Slush, and Momofuku Milk Bar) and the endless drinks courtesy of Brooklyn Brewery and GuS’s soda.

Check out the highlights, after the jump…

Tri Tip Serving Special Baby Bucks Today

Tri Tip Grill in Rock Center is testing out a brand new menu item today… the Baby Buck Slider. Thinly sliced tri tip on a Martin’s potato roll, with a side of horseradish sauce and au ju. They come 3 to an order for $6.99, and are only available today (although a little birdie told us that we may or may not be announcing on Monday that these will also be served at the Midtown Lunch 5th Birthday Party as well.)

Get a Little Buck For 5 Bucks at Tri Tip Grill Today: Got a little note from Tri Tip Grill yesterday touting the "best special we've ever done".  Today you can get a little buck sandwich for just $5.  The sandwich is normally priced at $6.99 and Blondie said it "may be the best thing in Rock Center".

Get a Tri Tip Grill Burrito For $6 Today

Burrito @ Tri-Tip GrillFrom Midtown Lunch’er Eric: “I’m not sure if you’ve ever ordered the burrito at Tri Tip Grill (in the Rock Center Concourse) but frankly it is amazing.  The chicken is always fresh unlike chipotle and the pico is top notch.  Anyway, after requesting that the  burrito be added to a special, Dave the very friendly owner over at TriTip has obliged… on Mondays, when you guys come in, say “Code Burro” (pronounced boo-rro) and you will get yourselves a $5.99 burrito.” And what do you know… today is Monday!
