Now that the ladies have Billy Gunnz, I suppose we can get back to promoting the female run Mister Softee Trucks… This just in from Miss Softee–she’s officially finished all of her permit renewal paperwork and will be back on the road starting June 1st. And that’s not her only news…

Us Ladies Get Our Own “Mister Softee” Vendor (and His Name is “Billy Gunnz”)

DSC00008

All the guys seemed pretty excited to read about the Ladies of Queen Frostine last year.  Well, this one is for the ladies! Yesterday Miss Softee (aka Profiled Lunch’er “Chrissy”) and I hit midtown for some lunching action, and for “dessert” she took me to visit one of the newest ice cream vendors to hit twitter, her pal “Billy Gunnz”.  He’s a midtown Mister Softee vendor, and has started to get quite the rep for flashing those guns (and pecs).

A shirtless shot of Mr. Gunnz (you know… for us ladies) is after the jump. Read more »

Miss Softee Hopes To Return By June

April 1st is the official start of the Mister Softee season. The Big Gay Ice Cream Truck is already back on the street, but what about Profiled Luncher and midtown fave Miss Softee?

Miss Softee’s Favorite Street Meat

DSC05496

If there’s one things I love about eating street meat in Midtown is that everybody has their own favorite spot for chicken and lamb over rice. Sure, some of the halal carts have become more famous- and Street Meat Palooza has crowned two different winners. But most people have their favorite spot (usually close to their work) where the guy knows your order, and makes it just the way you like it. And while it may not win any awards, it doesn’t make it any less worthy of being patronized.

So yesterday when Miss Softee (yes, that Miss Softee!) offered to take me to her favorite street meat cart, I immediately took her up on the offer.

Don’t Miss Miss Softee’s Final Week Extravaganza

Queens Frostine

It’s Miss Softee’s last week parking in Midtown for the summer (and possibly forever if she finds something she likes doing more), and to celebrate she’s having a “special extravaganza” all week long.  Basically, every day this week she’ll be featuring almost every amazing special she’s ever served- all at the same time!  Stop by at some point before the end of the week to have your favorite for the last time.  Plus, on Friday there will be a special going away party from 4-8pm at a location TBD.  Follow her twitter (or the ML Twitter Tracker) for all of the up to minute updates.

Only 3 Weeks Left to Enjoy Miss Softee

DSC04139

Miss Softee, who has gotten lots of attention from the Midtown Lunch’ing faithful in recent weeks, is “retiring” from the soft serve game in 3 weeks.  She’s leaving the game at the end of September to do some traveling, so if you want to get any last minute cones (or flirting) in, now is the time. Also, just as a FYI, she got kicked out of her normal daytime spot (on 40th and 5th) on Friday due to the Fashion Week madness going on in Bryant Park.  She tried moving to 41st and 5th, but the cops would have none of it and it isn’t entirely clear if she’ll be allowed to return even after Fashion Week ends.  She had her truck “Maddy” parked on 47th & 6th on Friday but I’d suggest you follow her on twitter (or the Midtown Lunch Twitter Tracker) just to be safe.

Fancy Fast Food Makes Mousse Out of Miss Softee

Fancy Fast Food Makes Mousse Out of Miss Softee

Erik from the website Fancy Fast Food visited the Miss Softee truck on Wednesday to fancify some soft serve, and the whole thing was caught on video.  I don’t know if turning ice cream into chocolate mousse is as impressive as turning McNuggets into Chicken Confit… but the video is still awesome to watch.  You get a “tour” of the truck, plus get to hear Miss Softee’s favorite pick up lines.  Spoiler: Covering her in food from the truck is a common theme.

Check out the video after the jump…

PROFILE: Midtown Lunch’er “Chrissy” (aka Miss Softee)

Every Tuesday I turn over the site to a different Midtown Lunch’er for his or her recommendations for the best lunch in Midtown. Last week we did a feature on the ladies of Queen Frostine, an all female collective of Midtown ice cream truck drivers. Well, not only does one of the drivers (“Miss Softee”) sell ice cream in Midtown, but she also eats in Midtown! Here are her favorite spots…

Name: Chrissy, but you can call me Miss Softee

Age: My grandmother always told me that a lady never tells three things: her age, her weight, and how much she paid for it.

Occupation: I serve ice cream from a Mister Miss Softee Ice Cream Truck in midtown. And, as you might have read last week, in addition to the traditional menu I also make a special cone everyday. It all started when I was driving and bunch of waffle cones fell off a shelf and broke. Since they were still wrapped in plastic, I figured I could use them as a special topping for the day. People went nutso! After experimenting with the broken cones, my first special was an almond biscotti crumble and it was a biiig success! Everyday I try to take into account the general mood, day of the week, special requests, and the weather to come up with a different cone. I post them on my twitter so people can check what the special cone is before they come to the truck. Most popular (so far) have been: Gimme S’more, Frosted Flakes, Cinnamon Bun, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Cake Batter, and Salty Sweet.

Where in Midtown do you Work?: I do a lunch spot every weekday by Bryant Park and the New York Public Library on 40Th and 5th Avenue during the day from about 1-6:30PM and then I do a nightspot at 47th and 6th Avenue. At the nightspot, I put up an after-work happy hour menu with special deals from 7-8:30PM, followed by a nighttime menu for late night snackers.

Favorite Kind of Food: I like just about everything! When it comes to lunch, I’m a sandwich fanatic. Two pieces of bread, something in the middle, and a little dressing. That’s all I need to be totally happy in life. Recently, I’ve also been having a passionate affair with Naked Green Machine since I spend so much time on the truck. It gives me tons of energy without caffeine and fills me up as an afternoon snack. When I’m cooking at home, I usually stick to traditional Italian food — like my mama used to make — or, I go for some new fusion blend that strikes my fancy. Recently, I tried making Mexican sushi and it was goooood. Yellow rice, cooked chicken, avocado, tomato, a leeeeetle onion, and some sour cream in a seaweed roll.

Least Favorite Kind of Food: I’m actually allergic to capsaicin, so no spicy food for me! I know, I know. How do I live without spicy food? Simple. I’ve never had it really. I’m also really lactose intolerant, so as much as I love to make people happy by serving them ice cream, I can’t really eat it myself. I try a bite of the special everyday to confirm its goodness and that’s about it. Other than that, I don’t think there’s much food I don’t like!

Favorite Place(s) to Eat Lunch in Midtown: Oh boy, I could go on forrrrrever here, but I’ll tell you about the places I’ve been frequenting by my work spots recently:
