Contributor Stalking (The “Sausage and Cotton Candy” edition)

Sausage and potatoes at Wirsthaus. Photo by Zach.

Donny got a look behind the scenes at P&H Soda, Blondie tried the maple cotton candy at Liddabit Sweet, Brownie had bacon and crack cookie ice cream at Ample Hills Creamery, Brian tried brunch at Maialino and I had a spaghetti sandwich at M Wells before they shut down later this month.

Elsewhere in the ML universe… Zach had some traditional German sausage at wirsthaus, Jamie had a hefty bento box at Misora Express and Andrea found a tasty pork salad at Bennie’s Thai Cafe.

Eddie’s Pizza Truck Now Has Cookies

Chocolate Chip Cookie

A few weeks back, Eddie’s Pizza Truck and Cart began carrying some dessert…  chocolate chip cookies supposedly being baked fresh on the truck. The day I stopped by the cart, they were not freshly baked, but wrapped in plastic but that being said, the cookie wasn’t a complete let-down. The massive, chewy cookie tasted fresher than most packaged cookies and there wasn’t any chemical preservative aftertaste. My only big gripe was how few chocolate chips were involved. I love the cookie itself, but chocolate chips are what should make a chocolate chip cookie. But considering how big the cookie is for only $2, I suppose I can overlook the lesser amount of chips for an otherwise nice dessert.

The truck can be found on 46th at 6th today. As always, check their Twitter (@EddiesPizzaNY) or the ML Twitter Tracker before heading out.

Less Than a Month Left to Try Num Pang’s Grilled Peach Sandwich

Num Pang Ever since Ultraclay’s post on Num Pang, I’ve kept the idea of checking it out in the back of my head. But as usual I either forgot about it or was just never in the mood for a Cambodian sandwich… that is until Serious Eats: NY tried all of the sandwiches and declared the peach one the best. Really?! A peach sandwich?! I have had the five spice pork belly sandwich before at their Union Square shop and liked it a lot. So for them to say that a peach sandwich was better, I quickly made my way to the sandwich shop to try it for myself.

Desi Food Returns to 50th With a New “Kati-Kart”

The Desi Food Trucks have been a pretty big part of Midtown Lunch since Clay first visited them over a year ago. So, it was a big loss when they were forced out of their spot on 50th (btw 6+7th) by the cops. Ever resilient, the Desi folks may have found a way around the food truck breakdown – they parked their brand new Kati-Kart on 50th btw. 6+7th. Get a look at the menu and some kati rolls after the jump.

Eggstravaganza Makes One of NY’s 9 Best Egg Dishes: Yesterday, Ed Levine reconfirmed his love of the chorizo, egg and cheese sandwich from the Eggstravaganza Cart (on 52nd & Park)  by naming it one of the 9 best egg dishes in New York City.  It was the only egg dish in Midtown to make the list.  Got a better one we should know about?  Put it in the comments.

Texas Heart Attack Now a Tuesday Special

Cer Te's July Sandwich

If you were sad when Cer Te (on 56th btw. 5+6th) stopped serving their July sandwich of the month, fire up that defibrillator and let’s get ready to party!  The “Deep in the Heart Attack of Texas” sandwich ($8.95), featuring chicken fried steak and macaroni and cheese on Texas toast, has been added to the permanent menu as a Tuesday special (right alongside the “Mr. Potatoskin”).  Between this and the August sandwich of the month, Cer Te is clearly the place to be for anybody looking to cure a hangover today.
