What’s Worse? ABP or Qdoba: From Lunch'er Andrew: "fyi...the au bon pain that once was on 40th and 3rd below my office is now going to be a qdoba...the windows are blacked out but there is a banner hanging." Meh.  I'm still waiting for my Baja Fresh!

Not So Fast With that Street Sushi: One of Eater's roving photographers "discovered" the guy selling bentos and sushi over on 50th btw. 6+7th from the Washoku Cafe.  (Apparently he was on 49th yesterday.)  Eater (jokingly) suggests that struggling restauranteurs may want to try this expansion strategy, though they might want to read this before proceeding.

Grilled Cheese Could Win You Free Artisanal Dinner: In honor of grilled cheese month (who knew!?) Artisanal (on Park Ave. & 32nd) is giving away dinner for two and a basket of cheese to the person who comes up with the coolest grilled cheese recipe.  Got an idea? You can submit your entry on Artisanal's Facebook page. Their menu is out of the ML price range (even the new supposedly cheap grilled cheese bar), but I don't think there are any among us who wouldn't take free dinner! [Official Contest Page]

Correction: Pizza Rustica To Return on Friday: You had to be quick to score some of Papa Perrone's pizza rustica yesterday (on 55th btw. Mad+Park), they were all sold out by 1:15pm. The truck is off today (and tomorrow), but they'll be back tomorrow (Thursday) Friday with more of the Easter treat.

Last Day for $1 Jamba Oatmeal: I guess it's a little late in the day to post this, but who knows. I'll bet some of you freaks eat oatmeal for lunch (or a late afternoon snack!) via Twitter: "@talida: last day for $1 Jamba Oatmeal... delicious."

Pinche Fail: From a commenter: "Just stopped over by Mantra, no Pinche. Went El Rey del Sabor (on 60th and 3rd) for salty beef tacos and a chicken empanada instead!"

Get a Berliner at Hallo Berlin and the AQ Kafe: Dave Cook from Eating in Translation was in Midtown on Wednesday, first at Hallo Berlin (for the VendrTV meetup) and then AQ Kafe (for a doughnut sandwich called a "berliner".) And Dave wasn't the only one at AQ Kafe this week for some pastry. Kathy YL Chan wrote about their budapest log on Serious Eats: New York.

Famous Dave’s BBQ Hoping to Open Next Week: From the ML Inbox: "Hey man, just called famous dave's, they said they will open on april 2nd. -Jake"  That's one week from today people.  Mark it on your calendars... or not?

Vendr TV Hallo Berlin “EatUp” is Today: Just a reminder, VendrTV's first street vendor "EatUp" is today at Hallo Berlin Cart (on 54th and 5th). So, if you're into the idea of sharing a German brat with other like-minded cart-loving people, be there at Noon.  If a "Dictator's Special" sounds appealing, but being around people frightens you, I'd stay away from the HB cart until at least 1:30 p.m. today.  You can count on the line being much longer than normal today.

Martha Stewart Suggests You Pack Your Lunch: This week is "Pack Your Own Lunch" week on the Martha Stewart show and today's episode featured Russ & Daughters, Baoguette, and Marlow & Sons showing you how to make great sandwiches. Bringing your lunch to work is ok a couple of times a week, but what about a show dedicated to helping people find interesting and super cheap lunch, while simultaneously breaking their addiction to $9 salads! (I may know a website that is an expert on that subject...)
