DSC00049

Don’t forget… today Kati Roll Co. is debuting Angelo Sosa’s new Shrimp Masala Roll, and the Top Chef will be there himself from Noon to 2pm. I happened to be by Kati Roll earlier this week for lunch with Blondie and  had a chance to sample their Chana Masala roll for the first time. Read more »

Half Off Cafe Metro: We don't normally recommend eating at Cafe Metro, but if you have to do it you might as well get 50% off!  Today's InBundles deal gets you $14 worth of food from Cafe Metro for just $7, provided you place the order online. (Which, considering the weather lately shouldn't be a problem at all!)

Grand Central Super Bowl Freebies Party Tomorrow

Since this site is about finding lunch during the week we’ve completely tuned out all the crazy stuff restaurants are doing this Sunday… and yet this managed to catch our attention!  “On February 3 the food shops and restaurants in Grand Central are throwing the very first Grand Central Terminal Super Bowl Bash. 11 of Grand Central’s food retailers, including Magnolia Bakery, Manhattan Chili Company, Michael Jordan’s The Steakhouse, Café Spice and Mendy’s, will gather in Vanderbilt Hall to give out samples and sell items that make ideal treats for Super Bowl Sunday.”  Uh… did somebody say samples!  The event takes place from 11:30 to 6:30pm.  Freeloaders, prepare to engage.

Hummus Kitchen Coming to Murray Hill: If you're a big fan of hummus, and work in the SE quadrant of Midtown you should be excited about this one. Hummus Kitchen, the popular Mediterranean restaurant on 9th Ave. is opening another location on 31st and 3rd Ave. [Grub Street]

Putting Glaze Teriyaki to the Seattle Test

Please give a warm welcome to our newest contributor: Donny T. from the site Eat to Blog

Back in December, Glaze Teriyaki opened to a lot of excitement from Midtown Lunchers and teriyaki lovers. The obvious excitement came from the fact that the owner is a Seattle native, bringing what has become THE food of Seattle to NYC. Chris H. was lucky enough to try the teriyaki when it first opened and liked it a lot. But how does Glaze Teriyaki compare to the real thing?

Well, guess what? I just got back from Seattle!  Don’t mind if I do…

Day One at the Newly Opened Rock Center Jacques Torres

Jacques Torres at Rock Center
Yesterday the Rock Center concourse branch of Jacques Torres opened. When I heard that JT himself would be on hand for the official opening, and that there was free hot chocolate involved I had to go check it out. I dropped by just before noon and the store wasn’t crowded. Chef Torres himself was greeting people at the door. The shop itself is brightly lit and all done up for Valentine’s Day. There are 3 small tables for eating/drinking in and four additional stools at the bar. Read more »

Angelo Sosa Opening New Sandwich Shop in Midtown East: It turns out tomorrow's Kati Roll thing isn't the only thing Angelo Sosa has for Midtown. According to Flo Fab, the Top Chef will be opening a new sandwich shop this month called Social Eatz, in the space where Busan used to be (on 53rd btw. 2+3rd). According to the article it will feature "burgers, tacos and sandwiches, mostly inspired by the Far East." Fans of Xie Xie, get excited.
