Checking Out The Kati Roll Company’s New Salad

In a surprising move earlier this month, Kati Roll Company started offering chopped salad boasting 12 ingredients in addition to kati rolls. The salad was a bit of a quandary to me. On the one hand, I actually used to joke that sure, I’d totally eat salad more regularly if they made them at Kati Roll! AND NOW THEY DO. On the other hand, if I’m going to Kati Roll, I can’t imagine ordering anything else but kati rolls. So, now what?

Kati Roll Company Expands Menu To Include… Salad!?

It’s been a minute since the Kati Roll Company last made updates to their menu, but starting today they are offering salad in addition to kati rolls. The chopped salad is a blend of greens, tomato, carrot, cucumber, mango (or seasonal fruits), raisins, sunflower seeds, corn, chickpeas, almonds and green pepper. Three Indian dressing options include tangy lime cilantro, cool mint yogurt, or spicy cumin tamarind. Salads come in two sizes: the large (13 oz) will run you $7.99 and the small (8 oz) is $5.49. Add a skewer of grilled paneer or chicken tikka for an additional $1.75.

I really want this to be great, considering how much we enjoy their kati rolls on this blog. But, gotta say, I’m not sure how I feel about it. That said, their Facebook page mentions free samples today at both locations from noon to 2 p.m. Freeloaders, take note, and leave your first impressions in the comments.

At Lunch Now: Kati Roll on 53rd Is Open for Business

Huzzah! After a 1-day delay, the new location of Kati Roll is officially open on E. 53rd Street. When I first got there, there were a few people waiting for food but there was barely a line to order. I got my food in about 20 minutes, but currently there is a line out the door, so expect at least a 25-30 minute wait from when you get there until you receive your food. Early adopters, feel free to post updates in the comments…

The ML Guide to Breakfast Sandwiches For Lunch

Sometimes all I want for lunch … is breakfast. Surprisingly, finding a good breakfast sandwich in the afternoon can be challenging, because many places stop making eggs at 11am. It makes me nuts. So, in case you’re like me, and you need some standby egg-making lunch spots in your back pocket, here are some of my go-tos.

New Kati Roll On Track to Open Wednesday

Last week, Rachel reported that Kati Roll is opening its second Midtown location on 53rd between 2nd and 3rd. While at the time, it didn’t seem like much progress had been made in the space, a look this morning shows that they’ve posted some signage! According to their Facebook page, they’re still slated to open this Wednesday and management confirms it’s going to happen. Fingers crossed they’re right on schedule!

Kati Roll Opening 2nd Midtown Location

Big news! Kati Roll has announced that they’re opening a new Midtown location on 53rd btw. 2+3rd, in the now shuttered Tadka space (although you wouldn’t know it from the outside so far!) The plan is to open on March 7th, but from the way things looked yesterday afternoon, when this photo was taken, it looks like they have a lot to do. We could not be more excited for the expansion of this Midtown Lunch favorite. You know who else must be stoked? Angelo Sosa. I guess that means the next time he collaborates on a new Kati Roll, all he’ll have to do is cross the street from Social Eatz.

Let Me See You Kati Roll: Ever wonder what goes on at Kati Roll (on 39th btw. 5+6th) at night, once all the Midtown lunchers have gone home from work for the night?  Well here's your answer:  Indian comedy troupes film music videos!  Eater discovered this video ode to Kati Roll, set to the music of Black Eyed Peas Ne-Yo.

Kati Roll Introduces A New Summer Happy Hour: The Kati Roll Company (on 39th btw. 5+6th) is now serving two great things that taste great together: Kati rolls and booze! Their new Summer Happy Hour starts today with beer, wine and kati roll deals from 4:30-6:30pm, Monday through Friday. You get $2 off 1 roll and 1 beer when ordered as a combo, and every week they'll have a special combo for $7. (This week it's a chicken roll + Kingfisher.)

“Shrimp Have Certainly Befallen Worse Fates” Than Angelo Sosa’s Kati Roll

Yesterday Kati Roll debuted their latest creation, a shrimp masala roll by Top Chef Angelo Sosa, and Fork in the Road was there to test it out.  Their verdict?  “The shrimp were cooked on a grill, but evidence of their coconut milk and chaat masala marinade was a bit more elusive. That said, the shrimp was definitely flavorful, if a bit overcooked.”  Kati Roll… pack up your knives and go.  We kid Kati Roll, we kid.  The review goes on to say that all in all it was as “delectable” as their other creations.  Read the whole review here>>
