Eater reported that chocolate master Jacques Torres is now turning his hand to making savory food. Starting this week, the Grand Central location has turned out a small menu of composed sandwiches.

When Jacques Torres opened his store in the Rock Center Concourse earlier this year, I was a bit sad that they hadn’t set up a freezer for storing their AWESOME ice cream sandwiches. Jacques Torres ice cream sandwiches are the best and biggest among those available in New York. I don’t even want to think about the calorie count, it’s Epic Meal Time stuff. And then last week they dropped the bomb that the Rock Center store is now equipped with a freezer, and had received its first ice cream sandwich shipment on Thursday!

Yesterday the Rock Center concourse branch of Jacques Torres opened. When I heard that JT himself would be on hand for the official opening, and that there was free hot chocolate involved I had to go check it out. I dropped by just before noon and the store wasn’t crowded. Chef Torres himself was greeting people at the door. The shop itself is brightly lit and all done up for Valentine’s Day. There are 3 small tables for eating/drinking in and four additional stools at the bar. Read more »
