Free Fried Chicken Alert: This seems too good to be true, but according to Eater Le Cirque (on 58th btw. Lex+3rd) will be giving away free fried chicken tonight during the Yankees game in its casual "Wine Lounge."

Andrew Zimmern is All About Midtown: Bizarre Foods Host, and personal hero, Andrew Zimmern has mentioned two lunches in Midtown on his blog recently.  Last week he was all about a sit down lunch at Bar Americain , while today he honors "National Sandwich Day" (who knew?) by praising the Carnegie Deli.

Cravings Truck Eats Lunch Elsewhere: The Cravings Truck, which is parked on 24th btw. Mad+Park, admitted via Twitter to taking a lunch field trip to the Shake Shack today. Like this guy, I'm always suspicious of people who don't eat their own food- but I suppose you can't eat this every single day.  And it is the Shake Shack.

Jamaican Dutchy Out for Three Weeks: Sad news for stew peas and jerk chicken fans today.  The Vendy award nominated Jamaican Dutchy (on 51st and 7th) will be on vacation for 3 weeks starting today.  Luckily we have the Caribbean Spice cart (on 46th btw. 6+7th) and the Jerk Pan cart (on Park & 48th) to pick up the slack while they're gone.

Krispy Bests Doughnut Plant in Pumpkin Smackdown: Just because Halloween is over, doesn't mean we have to stop eating pumpkin stuff right?  Blondie and Brownie sampled three of the city's new pumpkin doughnuts (including the much loved Doughnut Plant), and declare Krispy Kreme (available in Penn Station) as the winner.

Vendors Protest Over Perceived Uptick in Criminal Summonses: It was all fun and games earlier today at many of Midtown's street carts, but on Tuesday there was an organized protest on the steps of City Hall by street vendors who feel an increase in hostility from powers that be. "The top spokesman for the Police Department, said that no broad crackdown was going on" but unofficially it sure seems like there have been a lot of issues lately. [via Grub St.]
