Breakfast Redux: So let's try this one more time... yesterday, I asked for breakfast recommendations- but didn't turn the comments on until the afternoon (what can I say?  I am an idiot.)  One person recommended dishes, and another pointed out the $1 oatmeal special Jamba Juice is doing for the month of March, but I'm sure there are better options than that. Anybody got anything?

Midtown Breakfast: The New York Times Under $25 column this morning rounds up the best breakfasts in Midtown, and it includes porridge and ackee & saltfish from the Jamaican Dutchy and avena from Margon- plus a mention of El Tequilazo, that place I was asking about last week, and a few more that sound pretty damn good.  What's your favorite breakfast stop?

New Dessert Truck Panna Cotta Today: We briefly mentioned last week that the Dessert Truck would be adding a new dessert this week, and it looks like today is the day.  Jerome sends word via email: "We'll be introducing a dessert special starting today for lunch - a star anise panna cotta with caramelized pear and nutella brioche toast. It'll be on the menu for at least two weeks and then we'll see if it's a keeper for the rest of the cold season."

Midtown Happy Hour From a Different Perspective: Blondie tagged along with Mamacita to Sake Bar Hagi for last week's Happy Hour post, and posted her own take.  Though, for the Midtown Lunch faithful, it may be too much about the food and booze, and not enough of what it's like to eat and drink with Mamacita! Celebrity Apprentice Cupcake Episode Finally Airs: Remember when Celebrity Apprentice invaded Midtown to sell cupcakes back in October?  Well the episode finally aired last night, and Eat Me Daily has the whole video.  Do you see yourself taking a cupcake from Joan Rivers? The cupcake selling begins at 40:20. Sadly, Blondie and Brownie weren't caught in this video.

Soul Fixins’ Introduces “Bailout Special”: The just out of bounds Soul Fixins' on 34th St. btw. 8+9th Ave. is serving a "bailout special" of fried chicken, coconut rice with gravy, mixed vegetables, and a small lemonade for $6.95. [Eating in Translation]

Eater Launches Midtown Dealfeed Map: Every single one of these recession specials is more expensive than the most expensive thing ever written about on this site... but if you're looking to find a cheaper expense account lunch, Eater's new Midtown Dealfeed Map is a great resource.

Dessert Truck Offering New Macaron & New Dessert: From Jerome, the chef of the Dessert Truck (which has been parking on Lex+55th):  "Starting tomorrow (2/27), we'll be offering a banana, coconut and milk chocolate macaroon.  We'll also be selling the last of our citrus ganache macaroons tomorrow. What we want to try to do is offer a new macaroon roughly every 4 weeks, and like the rest of our menu, it will be seasonal. On another note, we'll be adding a new dessert on Monday, March 2nd.  It'll involve pears, panna cotta and toast.  More details to come as we finalize it..."

Inakaya Opens to the Public on Thursday Night: It's not cheap enough to be a Midtown Lunch, but if you are into robatayaki, the Japanese style of eating simple food grilled right in front of you, Inakaya is opening tomorrow night in the New York Times Building.  Eater has the first photos of the place, plus a look at their lunch menu. Sadly the lunch boxes are $18 to $32, but it looks like this place would be a fun splurge.

Friday is the Last Day for the Thanksgiving Dip: If you've been putting off trying Certe's entry in the Midtown Lunch Sandwich Challenge (the Thanksgiving Dip), now is the time.  The turkey, mashed potato, cranberry sauce, and cornbread stuffing burrito will only be available through Friday (on 55th btw. 5+6th).
