Luncher Formz Takes Down Coolhaus’ $20 Skyscraper

Last week we casually mentioned Coolhaus Ice Cream Truck’s skyscraper challenge (it’s a $20, multi-layered, ice cream sandwich that they’ll give you for free if you can finish it by yourself.)  And in what should be surprising to nobody, a Midtown Lunch’er stepped up to take on the beast.  Congrats to Lunch’er Formz for being the “first ever New Yorker to take down the skyscraper”. Way to represent for the ML community! He was kind enough to send us a photo of the 4 story “building”.

Oxtail From Sunrise Grill is Worth Standing in the Rain For

Sunrise Grill

With so many food trucks roaming the streets of NYC, I still manage to get excited when I read about a new truck hitting the streets- especially when that new truck serves oxtail. Last week Lunch’er Hengde reported that Sunrise Grill (37th btw. B’way+6th), a new Jamaican truck, was serving delicious oxtail with rice and beans. Just knowing a truck was serving oxtail was enough for me to trek out into the rain for lunch.

Metro Grill’s Roof Bar Makes Drinking in the Rain Worth It

If you like to eat, chances are you like to drink (read: a lot of you are freakin’ lushes), so every week our Happy Hour Correspondent “Mamacita” will post about a different bar in Midtown that fits the Midtown Lunch mentality: unhealthy food, not lame (unless it’s lame in a cool way), and most importantly… cheap.  Mamacita is taking this week off, so Clay has stepped up to the plate.

Ok, I’ve had enough of this rain. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to go outside and have a drink. It’s May already, I need some fresh air, sunshine and beer, preferably all at the same time. Lacking that, I went for two out of three and have taken a little time to check out roof bars of late. Earlier this week, I stopped in at Me Bar and last night after work, I decided to check out the often overlooked Metro Grill roof bar.

Chicago’s Potbelly Sandwich Shop Also Coming to Midtown East

It looks like Downtown and Rock Center aren’t the only places in NYC getting branches of the Chicago chain Potbelly Sandwich Shop.  This signage was spotted on 44th btw. Lexington+3rd by Lunch’er Drew, although by the sounds of these comments we probably shouldn’t get too excited.

Taim’s Hummus Sandwich May Be One of My New Favorite Summer Lunches

Taïm Mobile Line

Much has been said about Taim’s falafal, and when you’ve waited on their serious line, it’s hard not come away with that fried goodness. But with warmer weather finally on the horizon, I’ve been craving a slightly lighter lunch and my go-to has been their hummus sandwich. Read more »

Flatiron Lunch: Fava’s Combo Platter is a Impressive Feast

Every Friday our man UltraClay goes south of the ML boundaries in search of a delicious lunch. Sometimes it’s Murray Hill south or the Flatiron District, sometimes Gramercy and everything in between- but we just like to call it Flatiron Lunch.

I first noticed Fava back in March when I was heading to Bamiyan and made a mental note to investigate further. It’s a little hidden, around the corner from the main strip of restaurants on Curry Hill, but the promise of a Mediterranean Grill drew me back.
