It looks like Jamaican Dutchy isn’t the only street food vendor making a triumphant return to Midtown today… Souvlaki GR is parked on 46th btw. 5+6th today. Apparently their normal FiDi spot is still overrun with emergency vehicles from the storm.  Also on the ML Twitter Tracker…Comme Ci Comme Ca is on 36th & Bway, the Mac Truck is on 47th btw. If you check the Midtown Lunch Twitter Tracker today, what you’ll find is that many of our beloved food trucks are giving away free food to those affected by Hurricane Sandy. As first reported by Businessweek, this effort is sponsored by JetBlue and from tweets we could gather that this effort is coordinated in part by the NYC Office of Emergency Management. Wafels and Dinges and Big D’s Grub Truck were featured in the article, and more food trucks are out helping today. Toum NYC, Wafels and Dinges, and Rickshaw Dumplings are at Astor Place; Milk Truck and Frites & Meats are in Chelsea (19th and 8th); Eddie’s Pizza is in the Far Rockaways; Coolhaus and Big D’s Grub are at NYU; and Sweetery NYC and Mexico Blvd are at Tompkins Square Park.

We still have a few trucks serving Midtown today, like Bob & Jo, at Vanderbilt & 46th. One of the Wafels & Dinges trucks is at 60th and 5th, Valducci’s is at 52nd and Park.

Thanks to Wined and Dined for pointing this one out to us via twitter… the “Mac Truck” is parked on 55th btw. Park+Madison today. Nothing on their website yet, so early adopters let us know how it is in the comments.  Also on the Twitter Tracker today, Okadaman is on 47th btw Mad+Park, Toum is on 47th btw. Park+Vanderbilt, Hibachi Heaven is on 46th & 6th, Phil’s Steaks is on 45th & Madison, Cinnamon Snail is on 55th & Broadway, Crisp on Wheels is on 53rd btw. Park+Madison, Domo Taco is on 47th & Park, Kimchi Truck is on 55th btw. 6+7th, Mexicue is on 47th & Lex, and Red Hook Lobster Pound Truck is on 40th & 5th next to the NYPL.  UPDATE: Of course the Mac Truck got kicked out of their spot on 55th. We’ve added them to the ML Twitter Tracker so use that to keep tabs on their new location.

The TV show Smash is filming in Midtown today, taking up quite a bit of parking space around 44th and 6th… which could wreak havoc on food truck parking. Show your support! Cinnamon Snail is at 55th and Broadway, and Kimchi Taco 55th St. b/w 6th & 7th. Valduccis is at 52nd and Park, Crisp on Wheels is on 53rd btw Park and Madison, and Comme Ci Comme Ca is at 57th and Park. In the 40s, Okadamon is at 48th and Park, Domo Taco is at 47th and Park, and the Red Hook Lobster Truck is at the New York Public Library on 40th and 5th. And speaking of street food, if you’ve been wanting to try Ma Peche’s street meat inspired large format dinner but didn’t want to shell out the cash, next Friday (8/17) is a pretty good chance to do it.  There are still tickets to the 56th Street Round Table at Ma Peche next week (featuring our very own Zach!) The price includes a ticket to the discussion about the history of street food in New York City, and then you get lunch afterwards that includes a sampling of their street-meat inspired large format dinner!  There are only a few tickets left, so you might want to get on that sooner rather than later.

Okadaman, that new Japanese truck we told you about last week is having their first day on the streets today at 45th bw Lex and 3rd 48th and Park. Also, Chef Samir is on 37th and Bway, Bian Dang is on 47th btw Park+Mad, their pork bun cart Fun Buns is on 48th btw 6th+7th, Cinnamon Snail is on Park btw 46+47th, Luke’s Lobster and Crisp are on 47th and Vanderbilt, and Kimchi Truck is also on 47th near Park. Many other trucks are donating 5% of sales to God’s Love We Deliver, including Red Hook Lobster on 46th and 6th and Rickshaw Dumpling on 50th and 6th. And to cool things off, there’s always Uncle Gussy’s new frozen yogurt cart Pago on 51st and Park and Wafels & Dinges’ new ice cream flavors on 40th and Park or 49th and 3rd.
