Wafels & Dinges Introduce Two New Ice Cream Flavors

For me, it doesn’t get much better than a Wafels & Dinges‘ liége waffle smothered in speculoos sauce. Unless that waffle is also topped with a scoop of their specialty ice cream. Last year they teamed up with pastry chef Benoit Gerin (formerly of Jean Georges) to bring us the mind blowing Belgian Madness (Hoegaarden beer and honey) and the addicting Speculoos (spiced gingerbread cookie) ice cream. This summer, they will continue to expand their ice cream repertoire by adding two more exciting flavors to their rotating ice cream tubs (making five flavors total!)

The Belgian chocolate ice cream is rich and velvety and named after the fourth most famous Belgian export (after waffles, beer, and chocolate) – Jean Claude Van Damme. I got to sample the Choc-Claude Van Damme last week and it was a knockout. The other flavor sounds even more interesting: Flamboyant Framboise. This is made from Lindemans Framboise, a very sour and tart lambic beer that is sweetened with raspberry. Sounds perfect for summer. Beer ice cream is always a tricky thing, but if their Belgian Madness is any indication, I have no doubt this flavor will be amazing. They will also continue serving their Tahitian Vanilla for the purists out there.

But wait, it gets better. To officially kick off summer this Thursday, June 21, the W&D trucks will be giving out a free scoop of ice cream with the purchase of a waffle between 12:21 – 1:21pm. So mark your calendars and freeloaders prepare to engage.
