Twitter Tracker: If you didn't look at the ML Twitter Tracker this morning you may have missed this: Street Sweets truck is taking a "much needed" vacation, the Schnitzel Truck is back in the same spot as yesterday, and Miss Softee & the Treats Truck might have something up their sleeve for today. (I hope it's this!)

NYC Cravings Off the Menu Special: The NYC Cravings truck is parked in their Monday spot today (on 45th & 6th) and are offering up this special: "Secret menu item: porken, combo of chicken & pork, for $7. tell your friends only. Tweet will self destruct in 30 mins." Sure enough, it's already been deleted from their feed but is still showing up on the ML Twitter Tracker!

Twitter Tracker: Have you checked the ML Twitter Tracker yet this morning?  If you had, you'd know this (plus more): La Cense Burger Truck and the Cupcake Stop Truck are both in Midtown today, and the Steak Truck is serving a chicken cheesesteak hero with spinach dip (!?!) for $3.99 today.

Twitter Tracker: A couple of good nuggets of info on the Midtown Lunch Twitter Tracker... the La Cense Burger Truck is back in Midtown, Goodburger is having some sort of early bird special, Street Sweets is near the Hearst Building, and get a free dinge from the W&D Truck if you know which animal is on the walloon flag (???)

How Twitter Actually Hurts Street Vendors

Since their opening two weeks ago the Schnitzel & Things Truck has been moving around daily, with stops in Williamsburg, Dumbo, Downtown Manhattan, and Union Square, using twitter to let their 1000+ followers know where they are going to be.  Eventually they hope to make it to Midtown, and yesterday they got pretty close- parking in Madison Square Park.  As is usually the case for a new vendor parking in a new spot, things didn’t go so smoothly.  I checked in with the owner to find out exactly what happened.

“We got harassed by 4 different dudes as soon as we showed up.. But we weren’t having it man.. Whatever, it was the usual, you know the “I’ve been on this block for 15 years” routine:) and??? You want us to move because??? Take a walk.. They wouldn’t leave us alone, I called the cops on them for harassment:) then they brought their own cops, it was a freaking mess but funny, cuz they couldn’t do anything.. We reasoned with the cops and they didn’t do anything but leave and the guys were left in bewilderment ..

Twitter Tracker: Noticed a few interesting nuggets on the ML Twitter Tracker this morning... The Papa Perrone Truck is off today, but will return tomorrow.  And the Steak Truck is serving popcorn chicken over waffle fries all week long.

Burger Joint Offers Early Bird Special Thru Thursday

Following in the footsteps of HB Burger, who extended their $10 Midtown Lunch special through this week, the Burger Joint in the Parker Meridien is offering their own early bird lunch special via twitter: “7/20/09 thru 7/23/09 11:00AM -11:45AM.For $10 bucks you get a burger or cheeseburger, fries & a soda. Ask for ‘Twitter PKG’ when you order.” You know, because it isn’t bad enough that there’s a long line every day in there starting at noon… they want the lines to start at 11am!
