Demarco Coffee is Good For Pour Overs and Sandwiches

Sometimes lunch isn’t enough to fuel your afternoon. Sometimes you need coffee too, so it’s nice to find a place where you can get a good meal and a mean cup o’ joe as well. Demarco Coffee (Lexington Ave. btw. 50th + 50st St.), which opened this month, is that kind of place. Demarco Coffee is based in Queens, where they roast their own coffee beans. But at their Midtown Cafe, you can sample their coffee and choose from a small menu of cafe-style pre-made sandwiches and salads.

Blue Bottle’s New Orleans Style Iced Coffee

Blue Bottle Rock Center

Labor Day weekend is almost here which means fall is around the corner. Wah wah wah. I drink iced coffee year ’round–I’ve found it’s the only way I can tolerate the office coffee, but if you’re a seasonal iced coffee drinker you’ll want to give Blue Bottle’s New Orlean’s style iced coffee a try while the weather is still nice. Simon Sips is a Great (Hidden) Starbucks Alternative

Is “your” Starbucks the one on 47th and 6th, in the 1185 6th ave office building? We’ve been tipped off to a new spot for your morning ritual that is in the same building, but tucked away. In fact, you’d most likely never know this 2-week-old coffee bar existed if you didn’t work there.

Simon Sips has set up a small shop in the back of this office building. If you don’t work there, walk to the pedestrian area behind the building, and enter through the revolving door across the walkway from Ustav. Immediately turn left (which is the only direction you can go if you don’t have building access). There you will find Simon Sips, an unassuming place to grab your morning joe from staff who are just the kind of people you want to interact with in the morning: calm, extremely nice and helpful.

Spresso Cafe Brings More Fancy Coffee to Midtown

Once upon a time it was difficult to get a gourmet (read: overpriced) cup of coffee in Midtown, but now your options are endless. Zagat reported this week that a new coffee shop opened inside the Sanctuary Hotel on 47th Street between 6th and 7th. Aside from a sign outside, you wouldn’t know Spresso Cafe was nestled inside the fancy hotel lobby. They’re serving drinks brewed with Lavazza coffee and a small selection of French pastries, like financiers and caneles. And as a special promotion, now through the end of April, if you check in (presumably on Foursquare) and purchase a coffee drink, you can get a free canele.

Rock Center Blue Bottle to Open This Morning: The wait is finally over. San Francisco’s celebrated Blue Bottle Coffee in Rock Center is opening this morning. According to their twitter post last night they should be opening right now. Blue Bottle is fairly hidden in the concourse. For Rock Center vets it's in the old UPS location right near 'wichcraft. For all others, head towards the Sea Grill and make a right. See you in line!

Is 46th Street Midtown’s New Coffee Row

Right next to the newly opened SoomSoom near Fifth Avenue, is a big sign advertising a new location of Filicori Zecchini, an Italian coffee shop. This will be the second location in New York and it’s literally just a few blocks west of the first location on 46th Street. These two locations will bookend Gregory’s Coffee, which means between Sixth and Park Avenue on 46th Street, you’ll never have to worry about falling asleep from lack of caffeine.

Caffe Bene’s Maple Macchiato is an Expensive Indulgence

South Korean coffee chain Caffe Bene has opened its doors on Broadway and 49th street. Last week we posted photos of the impressive space, which boasts comforts that most Starbucks locations lack these days: plenty of seating, a book nook, flat screens and more. But what about the coffee and baked goods?

Caffe Bene is Open for Business

Caffe Benne

Well that didn’t take long. The ambitious South Korean coffee chain, Caffe Benne, is now open for business at 49th St and Broadway. The massive venue boasts plenty of seating, a book nook, gigantic flat screen TVs, pastries, doughnuts, gelato, and pre-packaged sandwiches. Oh, and there’s coffee as well, which on my visit a bit flat, but inoffensive. Check out the drinks menu and a peek at the interior after the jump.

What’s So Special about Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf?

Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf
Recently Los Angeles’ Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf opened their first New York location in Times Square (natch). I’ve never been to a CBTL but it seems like every few weeks Us Weekly photographs some otherwise malnourished celeb clutching on of their large frozen beverages. Being a coffee addict, I decided to check it out. Read more »

Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Opens On Monday: Back in July we brought word that the LA based coffee company, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, was opening their first store in NYC and the day has finally come! According to Gothamist, New York City's very first Coffee Bean (on 39th btw. B’way+6th in Times Square) will open this coming Monday (8/29).  Hopefully I'll get to celebrate the leaving of Irene with a nice iced blended drink.
