Will Terakawa Ramen Leave Us Longing for Teriyaki Boy?

Terakawa Ramen opened a few weeks ago on Ninth Avenue, replacing a former favorite lunch spot, Teriyaki Boy. If this new Japanese noodle joint serves similar cheap, quick lunches, then it might be worth a trip west. But unfortunately, my first visit cost me over $10 (with tip) and left my poor feet a little too sore from walking all those avenues.

Korilla’s 2.0 Launch Means An Extra Day For Us

The guys at Korilla BBQ have been very busy. In addition to preparing to be reality TV stars, they have finally launched their much anticipated second truck. It premiered on the street today in Chelsea bringing their Korean tacos to more New Yorkers. A second truck means more locations throughout the city, including an extra day in Midtown. The original truck will maintain its current schedule (with stops in Midtown on Monday & Thursday) and the new truck will be parked in Midtown West on Fridays. Check them out on twitter or through the ML Twitter Tracker.

Street Vendor Knife Fight; Frites N Meats Arrested: A street vendor was arrested on Friday after he knifed a rival hot dog vendor in the face.... and that wasn't the only street food news on the blotter this weekend.  The owner of Frites N Meats was arrested and formally charged with reckless endangerment, following last month's explosion on the west side highway.  They still hope to get FnM back on the street by August. Donna Bell’s Bake Shop Bring Southern Food to Midtown West

Donna Bell's Exterior
Until only recently, it seems like the lunchers on the Western edge of Midtown had the short end of the stick when it came to lunch. I think most folks would agree that the Hells Kitchen / Theater District area was one of the worst offenders in mediocre, high priced, tourist centric food. Yet, with the opening of places like Mooncake Foods, Totto Ramen, or Cha Pa’s, the scene is enjoying a re-birth of interesting and reasonably priced lunch options. Donna Bell’s Bake Shop, which recently opened in the Worldwide Plaza, right across the street from West End Bar & Grill, is another welcome face in the changing lunch landscape of Midtown West.

A Look At L’ybane Wine Bar & Where To Get Your Drink On For Friday The 13th

If you like to eat, chances are you like to drink (read: a lot of you are freakin’ lushes), so every week our Happy Hour Correspondent “Mamacita” will post about a different bar in Midtown that fits the Midtown Lunch mentality: unhealthy food, not lame (unless it’s lame in a cool way), and most importantly… cheap.

L’ybane restaurant and wine bar moved last year from their location on the UES to new digs on 8th Ave. just off the Times Square lights. The menu is a fusion of French and Lebanese with dishes like moules frites and kefta harissa. The look is warm, candle lit and ‘simple et accueillant’ (let’s hope that high school French class does me justice here.) The dinner menu favors small dishes that mostly fall just out of the ML $10 buck chuck, but what doesn’t is their happy hour. At the bar they serve $5 glasses of house wine, including mimosas, sake, sangria and chocolate martinis from 4pm till 7.

Check out the bar and my Friday the 13th drink picks after the jump!
