Cheap Cupcakes To Be Had Today: Attention cheapskates and/or cupcake lovers: Today you can get $1 cupcakes at Billy's Bakery on Franklin (btw. Broadway & Church) in Tribeca in celebration of its one-year anniversary. I guess $1 cupcakes are better than full-priced dry mini-cakes.

Read The Live Blog Of the City Council Vendor Parking Hearing: There's a hearing going on right now downtown dealing with a city council bill against street vendor trucks, and Miss Softee (follow her on Twitter) is kindly live-blogging it for us. Takahachi Bakery Finally Opens On Thursday: A new place selling Japanese baked goods, Takahachi Bakery, officially opens on Murray St. (at Church) in Tribeca on Thursday after some snags with building code delayed the May opening. Their Facebook page initially said that they would open Wednesday, but that was pushed back due to a technical problem. Finally, pastry-wrapped hot dogs can be yours.

Support Vendors At Pushcart Market On Park Place Today: The vendor-organized pushcart market is today from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Park Place btw. Broadway & Church. There will be a bunch of food vendors on hand including the Biryani Cart from Midtown and Heavenly Delights Jamaican cart from the Bronx. Think of it as your way of supporting vendors and the Street Vendor Project and fighting back against this.

Street Sweets Celebrates Birthday W/ Giveaway: It was exactly one year ago today that the Street Sweets Truck debuted, and to celebrate they’ll be at the almost-out-of- bounds Hudson St. btw. King & W. Houston until 3:30 p.m. today giving away 100 $5 gift certificates, and 100 sorbet/gelato sandwiches. Free Cupcake Alert, Fugee Tie-In Edition: I don't know why all food giveaways seem to involve cupcakes, but here's this: Starting at noon today the first 100 people in line at the CupCake Stop truck at Pier 17 and Fulton St. will get a free cupcake and T-shirt to celebrate its one-year anniversary. To add weirdness, apparently Pras from the Fugees (?!) will be on hand to announce a Haitian relief effort with the truck.
