Red Hook Lobster Getting Kicked Out Of WFC Lot Too!?!: It's kind of great weather for standing in line at a food truck/cart, and the ML Downtown Twitter Tracker says Korilla's at Varick & Vandam, Lent Space has Eddie's Pizza, Kimchi Taco, Palenque, Munchie Mobile and Juice Pirate, Phil's Steaks is at Water & Wall, Hibachi Heaven's at Hudson & King, Bongo Brothers is at Old Slip & Water and Mexicue's at Water & Broad. The WFC lot has Chinese Mirch, Red Hook Lobster (their last day there due to brick & mortar complaints. Ed's Lobster Bar cart?), Frites N Meats, Milk Truck, and Andy's Italian Ice.

GRK Bringing “Fresh Greek” To Huge Space On Fulton

grk sign

The lineup of quick service restaurants is about to grown on Fulton St. with something called GRK Fresh Greek opening between William and Nassau streets. This joins Crisp, Chipotle Five Guys, Financier and Hale & Hearty and is across the street from Texas Rotisserie & Grill. They have a Web site that simply says “coming soon,” a Facebook page and freshly-minted Twitter account, which says they’re bringing us “a new take on classic Greek food” in “fresh flavors like you’ve never tasted.” Guess  we’ll just have to wait and see when the paper comes down and a menu materializes. Let’s all hope it’s something equal to or better than the generally awesome Pita Press over on Cedar St.

Sloppy Jose BBQ Pork Sandwich At Cafe Habana Is A Nice Cubano Alternative

There aren’t a lot of Latin food options in Soho or Nolita other than La Nueva Conquista on Lafayette and a couple others in areas in the outer reaches of the neighborhood. If you want to sit down and eat your Cubano in a restaurant for less than $10, the options are even more grim, and Cafe Habana on Prince St. (at Elizabeth) offers that with prices that are gentler than most eateries in this area. In addition to the sit down part of the cafe, there’s the Habana To Go takeout shop next door on Elizabeth St. which you will probably not want to linger in since it’s not air conditioned, but it’s good for grabbing a sandwich or burrito and eating on a bench out front or somewhere that’s not 90 degrees.

Great Chicken Tikka And Pulao Rice From Indian Biryani Delights Cart

The growing cluster of biryani and kati roll carts at Broadway & Liberty was the only mobile source of these items until Biryani House launched a second location on William St. That left those of you in the other parts of the Financial District at a loss or at least stuck with regular chicken or lamb over rice options. Indian Biryani Delights perhaps sensed a need for some spiced meats in one of these holes and opened a month or so ago on Water St. btw. Maiden & Pine right next to the A-Pou’s Taste cart. Judging by the line and speed of service from the two young guys working the cart, you Luncher’s have been keeping them busy. It turns out that they’re serving some top notch Indian-spiced street meat and rice. Read more »

It’s Valducci’s Last Day At The WFC Lot: There's a lot happening on the ML Downtown Twitter Tracker today including Korilla BBQ at Front & Gouverneur, Bian Dang's at Coenties & Water, Frites N Meats is at Hudson & King, Coolhaus is at Broome & Lafayette, Jiannetto's has rice balls at Wall & Front, Bob & Jo's at Varick & King, Wafels & Dinges is on Wall St. and at the WFC lot, Bistro Truck and Souvlaki GR are at Old Slip & Water and Fun Buns is in Tribeca at Greenwich & Beach. The Lent Space has Andy's Italian Ice, Chinese Mirch, Nuchas, Phil's Steaks and the Snap Truck, while the WFC lot has Rickshaw, Valducci's (its last time there due to complaints from Caravelli's in the WFC), Mexico Blvd. and Milk Truck.

Snap Truck Making Weekday Debut At Lent Space

The Snap Truck has been on our radar for a while as they raised money and converted their truck into one that runs on recycled cooking oil. Well, after officially hitting the streets at a weekend food truck rally, they’re going to be at the Lent Space every Wednesday starting today. The menu is pretty simple and is focused on various hot dogs including a Chicago-style one and a vegetarian version with the same toppings, but instead of a hot dog you get fried avocado! The burgers and hot dogs are charcoal-grilled, and they use the leftover oil from their two kinds of fries to power the truck. You can take a peek at the bio-fuel menu after the jump.

Blue Spoon Coffee To Open Second Location Next Week

Word on the street, aka Twitter, is that Blue Spoon Coffee’s second location is opening Monday on William St. (at Platt). They’ve had a location on Chambers St. for a while, serving Intelligentsia coffee, breakfast items and hot and cold sandwiches and soup come lunch time. The location in the Financial District will eventually have a full menu, but for now we’ll have to settle for fancy coffee and baked goods. You can see the sandwich menu from the Tribeca location after the jump for an idea of what to expect.
