Midtown Lunch

Twitter is not just for the hipster trucks anymore! Judging from their tweets it’s clear that the Steak Truck (on Park and 47th) hasn’t completely grasped what twitter is all about (“print this ad with code 7787 and get free soda can with any lunch purchase, but you must present this print .from twitter,s web site.”) but it’s a start. And anybody that uses twitter to give out free food stuff is alright with me.

Speaking of getting deals on Twitter, Burger Joint in the Parker Meridien is also using the social networking tool now (@burgerjointnyc) to let people know about specials. On Monday they did an early bird special, $10 for a cheeseburger, fries, and a soda between 11 and 11:45am. No word on when the next one will be.

Essentially the Midtown Lunch Twitter Tracker is a new page on the site that collects all the twitter messages sent by your favorite Midtown Lunch spots, and puts them in one place for your viewing pleasure.  It’s the perfect solution for all you twitter haters that secretly wish you had an account for the sole purpose of stalking the NYC Cravings truck, or finding out about the next Goodburger milkshake deal. You can find the link to the ML Twitter Tracker on both the left hand, and right hand columns of the site.  And the page updates in real time.

The Serious Eats offices are about 5 blocks outside the official Midtown Lunch’ing range, but it looks like on Friday Robyn Lee (their photographer extraordinaire and expert on all things manatee) found herself at two Midtown Lunch favorites: Go Go Curry, followed by a little dessert at Ying Du (both on 38th btw. 7+8th.)  Nice choices!

Just an FYI from Bionicbites’ twitter feed: the $5 “May” lunch special being offered by Shilla (on 32nd btw. B’way+5th) is over… because it’s June.

Yes, as reported in the NYT this morning I will cover the “arrival of a new Chipotle” (ideally because they’re giving away free burritos!) But clearly they didn’t read “The Midtown Lunch Ultimate Burrito Theory (and how it relates to Chipotle sucking)” or the Midtown Lunch post that exposed Chipotle’s posted “calorie ranges” for the sham they are! (Spoiler alert: That burrito bowl you’re eating is not 130 or calories.)
