Be on the Food Network: The Food Network will be taping a short segment at the Treats Truck this morning and they're hoping that some of their regulars come by to make it on TV.  The truck will be parked on 38th and 5th starting around 11am with a full truck load of treats (plus extra kitchen sink krispies.) Don't want to be on TV?  It will be business as usual from Noon to 3pm.

Treats Truck Adds Carrot Cake to Their Specials Menu

Blondie and I have tried nearly every treat to come off the Treats Truck. Still every now and then Kim manages to surprise us with a new addition to the menu. Last week I happened to glance at the specials menu and noticed carrot cake. Being a big fan of their pumpkin cake, I clearly had to give their carrot cake a try.

Do You Miss the Treats Truck?: Schnitzel & Things isn't the only truck that got a jump start on Labor Day weekend... the Treats Truck also took the week off, but if you find yourself missing Kim too much there's a great interview on Fork in the Road that should keep you warm and fuzzy until she returns on Tuesday.

Treats Truck Conecakes and Dessert Nachos Return This Week

Kim from the Treats Truck just sent word that in honor of their appearance on tonight’s new Food Network show Kid in a Candy Store (airing at 8:30pm, so watch!) they’ll be bringing back two of their most popular specialty items.  Conecakes go on sale tomorrow, and Dessert Nachos will appear on Wednesday.  Both will be sold from the truck through the end of the week.  Follow the truck on Twitter or on the ML Twitter Tracker for locations. (We’re guessing this is what they were filming back in April?)

Treats Truck Brings Back Dessert Nachos Tomorrow for the Food Network

Remember the dessert nachos that the Treats Truck served during the “This is Why Your Fat” scavenger hunt through Midtown back in October? Well, it looks like it caught the eye of the Food Network!  Tomorrow the Food Network will be hanging out with the Treats Truck all day long, and they want their fans to come out and be a part of the show (or not, if you just want treats.)  Kim will be serving two of her famous specials (Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes & Dessert Nachos) plus a news special: Kitchen Sink Crispy Squares, as well as all their regular treats. Plus, when you get one of the featured specials, she’ll throw in an extra cookie on the house!  The truck will be at their regular Tuesday spot (38th & 5th Ave), but will begin dishing out the sweets a little later from 2 or 2:30 and stay open until 5 or 5:30.

Treats Truck/Papa Perrone Monday Mashup (Now w/ Schnitzel!)

Remember when the Treats Truck parked next to the Papa Perrone truck (on 55th btw. Park+Mad) a few months back?  They had such a good time they’re making it a permanent Monday thing starting today.  It’s a match made in heaven as far as we’re concerned. (UPDATE: Papa Perrone won’t be out today, but the Treats Truck will still be there! UPDATE #2: According to the ML Twitter Tracker, the Schnitzel & Things Truck is taking Papa Perrone’s spot for the day. Schnitzel + Treats = Happy Lunchers.)

How to Eat at 10 Carts For $10: A Thursday Street Food Tour of Midtown

food cart tour collage
Have you ever been kind of jealous of the winners of Zach’s various cart tours?  Even though I work in midtown and can hit the great midtown carts anytime I want, there’s something to be said about the fun of taking on a bunch of them at once.  To really do it right you need strength in numbers, so when I learned that a couple of my friends from Seattle, would be in town and free for lunch during the week, I started plotting potential food adventures.  Both of them regularly read Blondie & Brownie and they were jealous of the midtown cart/food truck scene.  The more I thought about it, the more convinced I became that we should try to hit as many carts for as many different types of foods as possible and with that in mind, may a present Brownie’s Cart Canyon Tour: 10 carts/10 cuisines/$10 a person…

This Mexican is All About the Treats Truck

I came across the Treats Truck yesterday and the winter special is a cup of Mexican hot chocolate for $2.25 made out of Abuelita cocoa. She also makes an amazing Mexican chocolate brownie ($3) that is perfect for dark chocolate lovers, and anyone (like me) that doesn’t like a sickly sweet snack. It’s moist and abundant in flavor. Check it out now! Dooo iiiiiiit!  The Treats Truck is on 45th and 6th today from Noon to 3:30pm.
