Cer Te’s July “Uncle Sammie” Also Available in Pizza Form

After two months in a row of serving their soft crab shell crab sandwich, Cer Te (on 55th btw. 5+6th) is going back to brand new for their July sandwich of the month.  Meet the Uncle Sammie: Pulled BBQ Freebird Chicken, Grilled Local Corn, Thinly Sliced Farmers Green Beans and Penn-Dutch Bacon-Potato Purée ($8.95). Sounds pretty good… and there’s a twist!  It will also be available by the slice ($3.25) at Pizza by Cer Te (on 56th btw. Park+Lex).  You can try both starting today, and early adopters- let us know how it is in the comments.

Against Our Better Judgement, I Try Pizza By Cer Te’s “Salad Pizza”

New! Salad Pizzas from Pizza by Cer Te

Last Thursday, we mentioned Pizza by Cer Te just added “salad pizza” to their menu. Out of curiosity, I wandered over the next day to check out these freaks of nature healthy pizza alternatives. After all, Blondie had given their regular slices two thumbs way way up, so maybe – just maybe – their salad pizzas wouldn’t be as silly as they sound. Still, try as I might, I never understood why someone would consider a pizza place for low-fat options. For veggie-topped pizza, yes (maybe…) I can understand, but Pizza By Cer Te‘s new salad pizzas are pretty confusing. It’s salad…on a pizza. Can you really call it pizza when there’s no tomato sauce and no cheese at all? I try these abominations after the jump… Read more »

Salad Pizza?!: Over the past year Cer Te (on 55th btw. 5+6th) has completely changed the way we think about sandwiches. Now Pizza by Cer Te (on 56th btw. Lex+Park) wants to change the way we think about salad by introducing 3 new chopped salad topped pizzas (Veggie Cobb, Chx Caesar, & Roman).  We're not really into salads, but if anybody is going to change our minds...

More on Pizza by Cer té: Curious to learn more about Pizza by Cer Te (on 56th btw. Lex+Park), the new "eco-friendly" "green" pizzeria? AM NY interviewed chef/owner (and Profiled Midtown Lunch'er) Edward Sylvia last week. What's Sylvia's must-try dish? The wild mushroom pie with mushroom béchamel sauce, mozzarella and thyme. Check out the full interview here.

Our First Taste of Pizza by Cer Te

Pizza by Cer Te

Midtown is in desperate need of a lot of things, and good pizza is definitely at the top of that list. This is New York, bad pizza is unacceptable, and unfortunately we have a glut of it. I haven’t exactly been hiding my love for the sandwiches at Cer Te (55th btw. 5+6th), so to say I was excited about their “green” take-out pizzeria, Pizza by Cer Te (on 56th btw. Lex+Park) would be an understatement. I’d been studying the menu since it came out, particularly curious about the “bakers” and the “ciagels,” but since I was going for lunch I could only get the answer for one of these creations (ciagels are on the breakfast menu.) Having a low environmental impact is good and all (I’ll admit the plant walls are pretty cool) but we want awesome tasting pizza and we want it now!

At Lunch Now: Early Mobscene at Pizza by Cer Te Has Finally Died Down

Despite an early rush of Midtown Lunch’ers, things have calmed down a bit at the newly opened Pizza by Cer Te (on 56th btw. Park+Lex).  Got the regular slice and the pomodoro baker. Regular slice is AWESOME: slices of mozzarella, sauce is a little sweet, but not annoying so, little basil leaves, chewy crust, and $2.50! Bakers are flat Sicialians with a suce cheese switchup! Yes, cheese below the sauce, call the trend police! I loved every bite!

Early reports have been mostly positive, with the only complaints being about service (it’s their first day) and price (it’s not cheap.)  One important thing to note, just like Cer Te the place is small and there is no seating. Full report coming soon.  See what everybody is saying, and add your own comments, here>>

Pizza by Cer Te Finally Opening Today

It’s been almost a full year since we first reported that Cer Te (on 56th btw. 5+6th) would be opening Manhattan’s first “green” pizzeria.  And after a whole lot of waiting, the day is finally here… Pizza by Cer Te (on 56th btw. Park+Lex) will open to the public today.  We’re guessing it will be similar to the pizza at Cer Te, but the new spot will have far more choices and some brand new items like socca (a gluten free chick pea flatbread), “bakers” (whatever that is) and a list of sandwiches as well.  Check out the entire menu here.

We’ve never really posted about “preview” parties (it’s never a good representation of what the food will be like for us real folks), but if you just can’t wait any longer to see the inside of the place or photos of free samples of pizza, Chubby Chinese Girl (yes, that Chubby Chinese Girl) went to their friends and family party on Tuesday night and posted her report here. Looks pretty damn good, but we’re more interested in hearing how it is today!  Early adopters, let us know what you think in the comments…

Pizza by Cer Te Menu Revealed (Opening Next Week)

We know it doesn’t look like it from this photo, but the long awaited Pizza by Cer Te will be opening a week from today (Thursday, 4/22) on 56th btw. Lex+3rd.  And if the sandwiches and pizza from the mothership (Cer Te, on 55th btw. 5+6th) are any indication, this should be a great addition to the Midtown Lunch’ing landscape.  (Especially for those who work in the particularly desolate area of NE Midtown.) As announced last year, the pizza spot will also be environmentally friendly, and yet still manages to keep slices and sandwiches under $10.

Check our the menu, after the jump…
