Pizza by Cer Te Finally Opening Today
It’s been almost a full year since we first reported that Cer Te (on 56th btw. 5+6th) would be opening Manhattan’s first “green” pizzeria. And after a whole lot of waiting, the day is finally here… Pizza by Cer Te (on 56th btw. Park+Lex) will open to the public today. We’re guessing it will be similar to the pizza at Cer Te, but the new spot will have far more choices and some brand new items like socca (a gluten free chick pea flatbread), “bakers” (whatever that is) and a list of sandwiches as well. Check out the entire menu here.
We’ve never really posted about “preview” parties (it’s never a good representation of what the food will be like for us real folks), but if you just can’t wait any longer to see the inside of the place or photos of free samples of pizza, Chubby Chinese Girl (yes, that Chubby Chinese Girl) went to their friends and family party on Tuesday night and posted her report here. Looks pretty damn good, but we’re more interested in hearing how it is today! Early adopters, let us know what you think in the comments…

On the menu, I see 10″ Individual under SOCCA. No clue if they do it for all the pies. Cer Te?

So I’m at certe pizza right now. Not a huge crowd, but its been a bit of a wait. Overall the pizzas look nice and fresh, in keeping with certe’s normal qualitý.
-

I braved the opening day. I got a thin slice Bianco and a thick slice Farmer. I have had the Bianco before and the quality, freshness and taste were just as good if not better than the other Certe location.
I had ordered the thin Farmer which was taking a little long so they gave me the thick instead because it was ready. I have lived in NYC 15 years and will make a bold statment in saying the Farmer is now my favorite slice of pizza in NYC. I could have used a few more scallions to cut the richness of the chedder and potato but it was really a slice of heaven.

They didn’t when I arrived (11:45am) but I ordered it anyway and waited about 15mins.
-
-
-

ditto. I will name my first born, Bianco. I didnt wait at all; however, all they had was the margarita, capo, biano and mushroom for slices.
-

I had the Bianco and the Margarita…both were ice cold when I got back to my office just 2 blocks away :( Despite that, they were very yummy. I will be back once they get all their organizational issues worked out.
-

-

I guess, but you think it would be just room temperature, it was COLD. Like it just came out of the fridge.
-
-

well mine was perfect out of the oven (had a bite before i left) and by the time i got back to my offices, it was cold…sucks, but the pizza was pretty delish.

1,000 thumbs up on the Brooklyn Cheesesteak, which is a cheesesteak with meatballs and fresh mozz on a garlic semolina bread. Great quality, huge, and under $10 w/ tax.
-

so it had steak and meatballs? or they call it a cheesesteak, but it’s a meatball parm?
-

it’s like a cheesesteak, but sub the steak for meatballs. includes peppers & onions. amazing. slightly embarrass that i’m about to finish thhis monstrosity. it has to be in the vacinity of 2 lbs.

-
-

Why is this called a cheesesteak? “Cheeseball” is both more accurate and funnier! Sounds like a meatball parm with peppers; no ’steak’ at all…
-

Man, now I hope I don’t order it as a Brooklyn “Cheeseball”…or greaseball.
