Korilla’s K’lla Sauce Packs Some Serious Heat

Korilla BBQ Truck

In the months since the Korilla BBQ truck first hit the streets they’ve revamped their menu to make the truck more efficient. You still have the option of mixing and matching toppings but they’ve put together some “best of” combos. I liked the Pork Chosun Bowl I first tried in the fall, so I decided to go with their Wild Child combination ($8) with their house made tofu and a more than liberal dousing of their k’lla sauce. Korilla BBQ Introduces New, Easier Menu

If you had a chance to check out the Korilla BBQ truck on 58th Street today you might have noticed they just launched a brand new “Heritage” menu.  The Korean/Mexican fusion truck still allows for complete customization of their burritos, tacos, and bowls, but to make it easier for those who find the process a bit intimidating, the heritage menu features already assembled options- keeping those tough choices to a minimum.  They also feature adorable names like the “Eye of the Tiger”, “Wonder Bird” “Porkinator” and “Wild Child”, in addition to options for kimchi lovers (“Kimchi Time”), and the person who likes to be surprised by the chef (the “I’m Feeling Lucky”).  Sadly it looks like the “chompers” are gone, but if it means a more efficient truck we’ll take it.

Check out the complete new menu, on their website.

Korilla BBQ line

After reading Chris’ early word on Korilla BBQ, I made a mental note to check it out next time it came to my nabe. When I read on the Twitter Tracker that they’d be on 46th and 7th the other day, I took the opportunity to hit them up for lunch.

A First Look at Korilla BBQ, Back Today on Lex

Korilla BBQ Truck

The inaugural opening of the Korilla BBQ truck has come and gone, and like the launch of any splashy new food venue, there’s been significant hype, incredible lines, a few missteps in execution, and of course, plenty of dissenting opinions. Given the amount of hype that Korilla BBQ has received in the foodie blog-o-sphere over the past months, it was guaranteed that they would be victimized by their own successful marketing campaign. And having sampled the food, I agree with the general consensus on the ML commenters. However, all things considered, I’ll make a bold claim and state that the Korilla BBQ launch was for the most part, a roaring success.

Your First Look at Korilla Truck Tacos, Launching Monday

Korilla BBQ Truck

Earlier this week we let you know that the Korilla Korean BBQ truck would be holding a public launch party and true to their word Kum Gang San was packed last night with throngs of freeloaders, food bloggers, and curious passers-by. Waiters delivered tray after tray of tacos, and despite the crowd, there were plenty to go around.  Naturally I stopped by to stuff my face, and find out more about Korilla’s planned launch today (incidentally they’ve pushed it back to Monday).

Taco porn, the menu, and more about Korilla’s future plans, after the jump.

Korilla BBQ Free Preview Tomorrow in K-Town

Great news for anybody who has been eagerly anticipating the launch of the new Korilla BBQ Truck (aka us!)  Not only are they hoping to be in Midtown this Thursday with the truck, but tomorrow they are throwing a launch party at Kum Gang San (49 W. 32nd St.) where they will be giving out free tacos to anybody who knows the secret password:  “Watch Out For the Cops”. The party starts at 7:30pm.

Korilla Truck Update: Sadly the Korilla BBQ truck we told you about last month hasn't launched yet, but Thrillist did get a bit of updated menu info.  In addition to Korean tacos, burritos, sliders and bowls, there will also be six different kinds of kimchi, rotating specials (like bo ssam, and kalbi jim), and possibly Korean pizza (although that will be a late night thing).  [via Eater]

Korilla Korean BBQ Truck Launching By the End of the Month

New Yorkers, our long nightmare is over – it seems like we’re getting our own version of the Kogi BBQ truck. At this point, there’s little that Mr. Zach Brooks can hold sacred to LA, now that we’re about to encroach on the Korean taco truck phenomenon. A phenomenon that already seems to have pervaded our local Midtown lunch venues, like Bann Next Door, Café Duke and Pro Hot Korean, though we have yet to see a legit Korean taco truck operating in Manhattan for weekday lunches.

After first hearing about the Korilla truck a few months ago on Eater and doing some preliminary investigation on their website and Facebook page, I excitedly reached out to the owner to get a little more information on the Korilla truck.
