Everybody Is Having Trouble With Quiznos Free Sub Promotion…And Now It’s Over

So it looks like you guys weren’t the only ones having trouble redeeming the free “one million sub” coupons at Quiznos.  This guy claims to have gotten his free sub on 34th St. in Midtown, but Consumerist has posted tons of complaints– including photos of “We Are No Longer Accepting the Coupon” signs, just like those described by ML commenters. And, of course, now they’re claiming that all one million subs have been given away, so the whole thing is over. Awesome. Great job Quiznos. (Worst… promotion… ever.)

Free Sub Alert (is complete BS… or is it?): I can't stand Quizno's, but you know how I feel about free food, so if you're into it they're giving away free subs on their website. Freeloaders engage! (And thanks to Lunch'er Jesse for the tip.) UPDATE: According to a commenter, NYC Quiznos are not accepting these coupons. What a load of horseshit.  UPDATE #2: Two others have claimed that it works.  One on Wall Street, and another who used it in Grand Central. If you try to use it, let us know what happens.

Midtown is a Pretty Good Place for Free Samples

The blogger behind Abroad’r View is attempting to go a whole week living off of free food. Right now she seems confined to free samples in Chelsea and Union Square, but if she came up to Midtown she could use this post, generously compiled by Lunch’er Jeremy to navigate through the free samples of Midtown. There is no more farmer’s market in Rock Center, but I’m pretty sure the rest is still applicable. She could also get a whole free brownie at Certe (on 55th btw. 5+6th) if she has a business card.  [via Eater]

Free Jacques Torres Chocolate (& Free Hotel Rooms?) Alert

To celebrate the new Jacques Torres location opening in Atlantic City, “Sweet Dreams” models (?!?) will be on 48th & 6th Ave. tomorrow (Friday) from 8 to 10 a.m. giving out free chocolate- plus a couple of thousand free one night stays at Harrah’s Waterfront Tower in A.C. Who knows what the fine print on those free hotel rooms will be, or how long they’ll last into the morning… but I’m down with the free chocolate. Jacques Torres is freakin’ good (who cares about Atlantic City, can’t we get one of these in Midtown!)  [Grub Street]

Free Sandwich Alert: Multiple sources have emailed me this buy one get one free PDF coupon for Cosi, but strangely it says "No Reproduction or Internet Distribution Allowed".  So, just to be clear, I'm not "distributing" it, but merely posting it to pose the question: How do they expect people to get a PDF if not over the internet?  Please don't download or distribute this coupon.  I am merely posting it for demonstration only.  Got that people?  Demonstration.  (Please don't sue me, Cosi.)

Free Brownie Alert: Profiled Midtown Lunch'er "Andy" sends word that for all of Feburary the Chocolate Bar by Henri Bendel (which is located on the third floor of the Atrium on 5th Ave. btw. 55+56th) will be giving away free brownies from 3-8pm, Mon-Thur if you walk in and say the word "bailout". Before you freeloaders go rushing out, it's more a brownie sample than a full brownie (the lady on the phone told me 1/3 of a brownie)... but in these economic times, I won't turn my nose up at free food of any sort. (And if you work in the vicinity it might be worth a little looksee.) Update: The store has emailed to let me know that it is actually 1/2 a brownie.  Feeloaders engage! [Wined and Dined]

Free Coffee Alert: Plus Win FreeFoods For a Month

coffeecoupon

Unlike Oren’s, who is only giving away free coffee tomorrow for a couple of hours, FreeFoods NYC is offering a coupon that will get you free coffee every day this week at their new location on 52nd btw. Lex+3rd.  (Click on the coupon to print it out.)  But more exciting is the news that they are having a contest to give away a whole month of food for free:

To enter simply submit a 250 word or less email, no later than this Thursday, with the subject: “Why I deserve FreeFoods for 1 Month” and send it to eatfree@freefoodsnyc.com.

You know what?  I think I’m going to go for it.  Why shouldn’t they give the prize to a meat loving, expensive lunch hating, fatso like me? My award winning essay is after the jump.

Free Doughnut Alert: Eater is reporting that Krispy Kreme will be giving away free doughnuts on Tuesday in honor of the Inaguration, and the one Midtown location (in Penn Station) is particpating all day. This is in addition to the free coffee you can get at Oren's. Thanks Obama!

Cafe Metro Says No Free Lunch For Citigroup: I don't know what this guy actually overheard, but somebody from Cafe Metro responded in the comments: "We do not have any financial affiliation with Citi Group, We do offer certain customers a discount due to the high employee patronage. There is no free lunch for Citi Group Employees." Is this a subterfuge to keep us from trying to impersonate Citigroup employees? Did anybody try to get a free lunch?

Free Coffee Alert: Eater is reporting that during the Inauguration on Tuesday (from 11:44 a.m. to 1:44 p.m.) Oren's Daily Roast will be giving away free cups of their new coffee Blend 44.  There are 3 Oren's in Midtown: two in Grand Central and one on 51st St. and 3rd Ave. (According to the comments on Eater, there was also one on 58th but it has closed.)
