3 Days Left to Enjoy the Colonel’s Heart Attack

aug1

September is almost over… which means there is only a few days left to enjoy the “Colonel’s Heart Attack”, this month’s special sandwich at Cer Te (on 55th btw. 5+6th). Just wanted to make sure you didn’t forget… (and my apologies to those who were purposefully attempting to forget, you know- for their own health.)

Pizza by Cer té is Two Months Away

Here’s a quick update on “Pizza by Cer Te”, the new “green” pizza place being opened in the old Quizno’s space on 56th btw. Park+Lex.  Lunch’er Peter forwarded along this this photo, and we’re hearing that they hope to open in Mid-November.

“New and Improved” Colonel’s Heart Attack Debuts Tomorrow at Cer Te

All the votes have been tabulated and the Colonel’s Heart Attack has been crowned the winner of Cer Te’s August sandwich challenge. The sandwich will be sold every day for the entire month of September (starting tomorrow, natch.) Also, they’ve sent word that “some improvements” have been made to the sandwich based on feedback from Midtown Lunchers.

Improvements to a “winning” sandwich?

Last Chance to Vote For Your Favorite Cer Te Sandwich

aug1The voting for Cer Te’s crazy sandwich competition ends tomorrow, so this is pretty much your last chance to affect the outcome. Right now the Colonel’s Heart Attack has a decent sized lead (despite some lunch’ers complaining that it could have been better.)  If you’d prefer a different sandwich to be offered for the entire month of September, today is your last chance to vote.

Today is the Last Day for Cer Te’s August Sandwiches

If you wanted to try one of Cer Te’s five special sandwiches (the ones they’ve been selling every Monday and Tuesday for the past month) but haven’t made it over to 55th btw. 5+6th yet- today is your last chance. After today, the sandwich that gets the most votes on their blog will be the special sandwich for the entire month of September. As of the time of this posting, the Gulfano (southwestern cuban) is beating the Colonel’s Heart Attack by a few votes. I was kind of partial to the croque, but the gulfano was damn good too. No matter what happens, we’ll end up with a tasty sandwich for all of September.

At the beginning of the month, Cer Te (on  55th btw. 5+6th) announced that they would be offering a whopping 5 specially designed sandwiches every Monday and Tuesday throughout the month of August. Lunchers would then be asked to vote on their favorite, and the winner would be offered every day in September as Cer Te’s official entry into the Midtown Lunch Sandwich Challenge.  It took me two weeks to get it done, but I finally tried every one of the five entries.

Cer Te Wants You To Pick Their Next Special Sandwich

certe_sandwiches

Whoever does marketing for Cer te deserves a gold star.  Since we launched the Midtown Lunch Sandwich Challenge Cer Te, on 55th btw. 5+6th, has used it as their own personal promotional machine- which of course was ok with us because we were getting amazing sandwiches.  There was the Thanksgiving Dip (which I believe is still available on Thursdays), the Bayou, the Primavera, the Mexican torta, and the soft shelled crab.  And of course that whole lobster roll thing, which was kind of an honorary entry.

The slightly upscale deli took the month of July off, but they plan on coming back with a bang in September and want you to help pick the sandwich of the month.  Every Monday and Tuesday, today through the end of August, they will be serving 5 (yes, five) special Midtown Lunch sandwiches and asking you to vote for the best one.  Shameless promotion designed to get Midtown Lunch’ers to come in and eat five sandwiches?  Of course. But once you see some of these sandwiches, maybe you won’t mind as much.

Last Day for Certe’s Soft Shelled Crab; Thursday is $9 Lobster Roll Day

DSC02657It’s the last day of June, which means today is your final chance to for Certe’s delicious soft shelled crab sandwich (on 55th btw. 5+6th). I’m not sure if they are doing a July sandwich, but Thursday they *will* be serving the “make-good” $9 lobster roll they promised last month.  For those who don’t remember… on May 22nd Certe offered their Friday lobster roll for the special one day price of $9. Sadly, the sandwich didn’t live up to the standards of what some lunchers would consider an authentic lobster roll (it was a wrap, and had corn in it.)  Certe responded by saying they would offer a $9, authentic lobster roll, right before July 4th weekend to make up for it. So here it is.  Certe’s “authentic” lobster roll, this Thursday, take out only, for $8.95.  Enjoy!

If You Don’t Get An Amazing Soft Shelled Crab Sandwich I Want to Hear About It

So, the Midtown Lunch Sandwich Challenge keeps rolling along- but as of now it just seems like the Cer Te show. You guys said you wanted it to keep going, so Cer Te (on 55th btw. 5+6th) keeps pumping out the sandwiches.  (Maybe yesterdays coverage will encourage other Midtown businesses to get on board!  What are you waiting for people?  A challenge has been issued!)

The June offering from Cer Te is a soft shelled crab sandwich, and I stopped by yesterday to try it for myself.
