Roll & Go Serves One of the 5 Worst Slices in NYC: Remember Roll & Go, the sushi place on 38th & 8th that started serving $1 pizza back in March?  Well apparently we were smart to avoid it.  Fork in the Road named their teriyaki pizza one of the 5 worst slices in NYC yesterday, adding that the place itself is somehow worse than it looks.

Azure on 3rd Ave. Closes After 15 Years: This might not be as big a deal as Zaiya, but Azure, the generic deli that's been on 3rd Ave. and 51st for 15 years, has closed after the owners decided not to renew their lease.  It wasn't particularly special, but its by the pound buffet (which was briefly mentioned in our guide to beating by the pound buffets) will always hold a special place in our heart.  [via Eater]

It’s Free Turkey Burger Day: Just a friendly reminder... the Bistro Truck has been handing out free turkey burgers all week long, and today is finally Midtown's turn! They're supposed to be on 52nd and Park from 11am to 3pm, but considering how things have been going these days you'll probably want to check their twitter feed before heading out.

Free Popsicle Alert: In an effort to spread the word about solar energy, Sungevity (a solar leasing company?) will be giving away free popsicles today at 43rd street and 7th Ave. in Times Square from 3-7pm.  The popsicles will be available in a number of flavors including strawberry, mango, and hibiscus mint. Mmmmmm... sweet, delicious solar awareness.

Free Meatballs Alert: According to Eater, versatile food personality Donatella Arpaia will be launching a second Meatball Wagon in Chelsea soon, and to celebrate she'll be giving out free meatballs today in Rockefeller Center, Times Square, and Madison Square Park. No specific locations have been announced, but check her Twitter feed to find out where you can get a taste of her award-winning meatballs.

Kati Roll Introduces A New Summer Happy Hour: The Kati Roll Company (on 39th btw. 5+6th) is now serving two great things that taste great together: Kati rolls and booze! Their new Summer Happy Hour starts today with beer, wine and kati roll deals from 4:30-6:30pm, Monday through Friday. Shake Shack Gets First Grand Central Approval: This morning the Shake Shack passed their first hurdle to opening a location in Grand Central, with the second round being on Wednesday. The biggest concern regarding them taking over the Zocalo space? "Potential lines in a congested station." Uh... ya think!? [Eater via DNAinfo]
