Win Lunch from Lucy’s Mexican Cantina

You know what was completely lost in yesterday’s MomoMadness Lucy’s Cantina Royale (aka Lucy’s Mexican Cantina) opened Wednesday on 34th Street and 8th Ave.  Anybody check it out?  I’m still thinking the menu might be a tad bit too expensive to be a Midtown Lunch, but I’m willing to keep an open mind and check it out.  They actually invited me to have lunch there today, on the house, but you know I don’t roll like that.

I will, however, accept free food on behalf of my readers!

I floated the idea to Lucy’s, and they agreed to give one Midtown Lunch reader a $50 gift certificate to the newly opened restaurant.  All you have to do is post your favorite burrito of all time (ingredients or location or both) in the comments below, and you’re entered to win.  The gift certificate will be good for an entire year, but hopefully you’ll use it soon- because we want a full report! Good luck freeloaders.  (A winner will be drawn at random on Tuesday at Noon.)

Haven’t had one in a long time, so my memory may be a little foggy, but I have fond recollections of the fajita steak burrito from La Tapatia Taqueria in Houston. It could also be that they’d still serve you beer in soda cups after hours, but that’s neither here nor there.

My favorite burrito is a breakfast burrito from a restaurant in Denver Colorado called the Breakfast Inn.
It’s eggs, sausage, potatoes, cheese etc and roasted green chile smothered on top. It’s so amazing!

I had this amazing burrito at this hole in the wall Mexican place in Philly…don’t remember the name of the place, unfortunately, but I had the this burrito stuffed with carnitas and just UGH. So good.

  • I love the beef burrito that is served at 5 Burro Cafe in Forest Hills.
Its thick slices of seared strip steak that almost taste buttery and moist in your mouth! That with a nice portion of mexican rice, pepper, onions, lots of guac, sour cream and HOT SAUCE. yum

  • having never had a west coast / mission-style burrito, i feel underqualified to respond, choices being limited to chipotle and qdoba. sorry. that being said, they are decent food if one isn’t expecting authenticity. i have to go with the ancho chile bbq pulled pork i just had from q today; bogo coupon didn’t hurt either.

It pains me to say this as a NYer, but the best burrito I’ve had is from Anna’s Taqueria in the MIT student center in Cambridge MA. You could tell me they put crack in those things and I wouldn’t be surprised. Carnitas and everything except olives. nom nom nom.
