Is 2 Bros Burger Operation No More?

2 Bros. $1 pizza empire has multiple locations in Midtown that attract long lines during prime lunch hours, but it seems their attempt to add burgers to the pies at the 46th St. location (btw. 5+6th) did not fare as well. I liked them just fine, but they weren’t cheap enough or good enough to attract much attention and I never even got around to trying their 5 Guys-esque new menu. Last week, a commenter tipped me off to the apparent demise of Bros. Burgers, so I headed over to investigate.

Is 50th and 6th Becoming Too Hot As Well?

Line of Trucks on 50th view 1

Yesterday we noted that several trucks have had trouble parking off 6th ave on both 51st and 52nd streets, but as Lunch’r “locondcoco” pointed out in the comments:

Well, clearly 50th btw 6th & 7th isnt a problem. 4 trucks lined back to back there today! (Desi, Big D’s, Sweetery and CrepeTruck).  As sad as I am that these trucks wont be right outside the office anymore, a rather short walk to 50th I can deal with.

But how long can this last? Read more »

Last Call for Cer Te’s May Sandwich

Certe

There are only a few days left for Lunch’er Wayne’s Gibraltar Barnyard, aka Cer Te’s May sandwich of the month ($8.95). Wayne gave us a sneak peek at the beginning of the month, which of course he liked (after all he designed the thing!) And even though I don’t typically get that far north for lunch, reading the comments pushed me to give it a shot before the month was up.

Only 5 Days Left in Menchanko-Tei 55’s May Lunch Promotion

Menchanko Tei May Lunch Promotion

Yesterday’s nice weather afforded me an opportunity to take a lunchtime stroll and I spotted a sign that I wished I had seen, um, four weeks ago. Apparently Menchanko-Tei (my favorite ramen place in midtown) is offering a May lunch time promotion. It’s only at the 55th street location (sorry East siders) and it’s only for dine-in customers from 11:30 until 5pm. The Hakata, Shoyu and Assari Ramen are all $5.75 (normally $8.50). I hope I’ll have a chance to squeeze one of these lunches in before the end of the month.

Menchanko Tei, 43-45 W. 55th St. (btw. 5+6th), 212-247-1585

Num Pang is Expanding to Midtown!!!: If you're a fan of Num Pang, the popular Cambodian sandwich shop just south of Union Square, Eater broke some huge news yesterday just for you.   The second location that they've been planning for the past month is going to be on 41st btw. Lex+3rd.  No word on when it will open, but you better believe we'll be there on opening day!

Contributor Stalking (The $9.99 Pig’s Feet Edition)

Do you wonder what the ML contributors do when they’re not eating lunch in Midtown? (They’re actually pretty easy to stalk!)

The $9.99 jokbal lunch special at Jang Choong Dong

Brian owns up to his addiction to frozen water with a review of the shaved ice at Ice Fire Land in Flushing, Brownie is in the mood for pie, Blondie had some amazing looking meatballs at Northern Spy Food Co, Donny is swooning over bacon marmalade, and I checked out the opening day of Smorgasburg.

Elsewhere in the ML Universe… Andrea took a closer look at Nixtamalito for the Jury Duty set, Jamie found a deli that sells Korean sandwiches, overstuffed panini and breakfast all day, and Zach did his best to convert readers to the joys of pig’s feet.

Trini Paki Back on SE Corner of 43rd/6th

About a year ago, the Trini Paki Boys cart were forced to move from the south side of 43rd Street to the north side due to construction in the courtyard of the Grace Plaza. They were stuck in between a parade of other carts, including some other halal and hot dog vendors and their lines often got confused with the lines for El Rey del Sabor. Ironically, this was Trini Paki’s original corner when they started 23 years ago, but the food cart scene was a lot less competitive then.

This past Monday, the blue construction plywoods came down and Trini Paki Boys have returned to their previous spot. And when I walked by yesterday, it seems all their regulars have already noticed the switch because the line stretched down the block.  Along with the recent addition of shark and bake, Fatima (the owner) tells me they may soon be offering desserts. I can’t think of another halal cart that does Middle Eastern desserts. That would be truly awesome – regardless of which side of the street they’re on.

Last Chance For $1 Goodburger: Since burger month ends on Tuesday, today is the last day for Goodburger's "Single For a Single" burger promotion.  From 3-5pm today you'll be able to get a single Goodburger with the works for just $1.  Limit 5 per customer, good for in store purchase only.
