Cer Te Launches May Sandwich Today
Lunch’er Wayne w/ Cer Te’s Chef Edward
If you’ve been super excited to try Cer Te’s new sandwich challenge winners, today is the first day you can score Lunch’er Wayne’s “Gibraltar Barnyard” (the May sandwich of the month.) He actually got to test it out last week and sent over this report:
They basically took my OK idea and did 3 little tweaks to make it magnificent, like they tend to do with all sandwiches. They lightly grilled the ciabatta, crisped up the serrano ham and added some tomato paste to the harissa. They left the egg salad with essence of blue cheese & sprinkling of arugula alone. The result is a spicy, crispy, gooey, salty, earthy, satisfying meal that works as a breakfast or a lunch. (Think bacon eggs cheese & spicy ketchup gone upscale if ordered as a late breakfast)
As a commenter I always liked Certe – major points for creativity, ingredients, sandwich names, etc. But after actually meeting them they are also the nicest people imaginable. And they know their stuff. A love-fest broke out talking about the sandwich, and how they immediately loved the concept of one ingredient from each country on the rim of the Mediterranean.
The sandwich costs $8.95 and will be available all month long.

That looks tasty. I usually hate arugula in sandwiches, but the bitterness of it might work well with the egg and harissa.
