One More Day For the Supplemental Twitter Tracker

We’re putting the finishing touches on the new ML Twitter Tracker (it’s been broken since the authpocalypse last week), and it should be up and running tomorrow.  Until then, here’s what’s going on on twitter this morning…  Schnitzel & Things is on 46th btw. 5+6th, Street Sweets is on Park and 53rd giving away free stuff in a special black and white truck until 4pm (but you already knew that), Cupcake Stop is on 40th and 5th, Frites N Meats is on 52nd and Park, Billy “Mister Softee” Gunz is on 39th and B’way, Quick Stop Kosher is on 33rd and 9th, and 4Food is officially open for business today.  And for the Flatiron Lunchers… Pizza Truck NYC is on 28th and B’way and NYC Cravings is on 24th btw Park+Madison.  We’ll update this post as more info comes in. UPDATES: Rickshaw is on 52nd and Lex as well, and the Treats Truck is on 38th and 5th.

$1 Pizza by Cer Te Alert: Remember Pizza by Cer Te's two for $2 Tuesday promotion back in July?  Well, they're doing it again today.  Get two margherita slices for just $2 all day long starting at Noon today.  Pizza by Cer Te is on 56th btw. Park+Lex.  [via NYC Daily Deals]

Helen’s Rice and Noodles Opens on Lex

On Friday Lunch’er Hightemp checked in to let us know about Helen’s Rice and Noodles, a brand new Korean(ish) spot just out of bounds (on Lexington and 62nd.)  They have $9 lunch boxes, with your choice of Korean meats or teriyaki, plus bibimbap, kimbap, japchae, soon doo boo, and a list of Japanes stuff like udon, ramen, and sushi.  Here’s what Hightemp had to say about the place…

I had the Spicy Pork lunch box.  Came with a big portion of brown rice, a small cup of miso soup, a small salad and 3 other sides – no choice on the sides.  Its kind of like the system at Pro Korean on 56th but without the completely pre-made boxes (the boxes were prepped with sides but the meats seemed to be cooked to order).  The pork was considerably spicier than Pro Korean and the meat quality was pretty much the same as Pro Korean.  I felt like I got a good amount of food for the price.

They do need to figure out some basics of organization though.  My order took far longer than it should have since only one of the staff members seemed to know what was going on and he kept splitting his attention to the others.   Hopefully they can get there because the food was pretty good.

Check out the menu after the jump…

Free Street Sweets Alert: Is there a better way to be welcomed back from a long weekend than with free stuff?  The Street Sweets Truck is teaming up with Saks Fifth Avenue (how street food'ish!) to give away 1500 treats today.  They'll be parked from 9-10:30am at Saks (on 49th btw. Mad+5th) before moving on to Park btw. 52+53rd from 11am to 4pm.  Freeloaders, engage.

Food Trucks Are Begging For Your Vote

Earlier in the week, we told you how you could help your favorite food truck win $10,000 as part of the Food Network’s Great Food Truck Race Giveaway. If you follow Cupcake Stop, Treats Truck, Mexicue, Calexico, NYC Cravings, Big Gay Ice Cream Truck, Bistro Truck, or Eddie’s Pizza Truck on Twitter or Facebook you know that everybody is lobbying hard for the win. But not every truck is planning on keeping the $10k prize for themselves. Eddie’s Pizza Truck has said they will donate the prize to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, while the Cravings Truck has vowed to give away free lunch for a week if they win (200 platters a day for 5 days.) Tough decision. Help a charity? Or help yourself get free food. Or just vote for whoever you think is the best! Either way, the current Top 10 doesn’t have a single New York Food truck. Clearly we need to change that… Vote now. The contest ends a week from today (on 9/10).

Bull Moose’s Burger & Beer Special Is Worth Hunting Down

The recently reopened Bull Moose Saloon (on 44th btw. 8+9th) has a lunch special that not only leaves some Washingtons in your wallet but also satisfies that Summer thirst. For measly $5.85 you get a cheeseburger cooked to order with hand cut fries and a beer. For those inclined, you can also get 10 crispy hot wings with a beer for the same price. Yes, all this for under $6. Workers on the far Westside rejoice, eastsiders… well.. we’ll give you a moment of silence to mourn…

Ok that’s enough, time for burger porn!

Hurricane + Holiday Weekend = Slow Friday: The ML Twitter Tracker is still broken, but it doesn't much matter today... Eddie's Pizza is on Park btw. 26+27th, Cupcake Stop is on 29th and 7th, and Wafels and Dinges is on 52nd btw. 6+7th.  But that's pretty much it.  (Eggstravaganza & Jamaican Dutchy are where they always are.) If there are any more updates, we'll add it to this post as they come in.

Boki Cart Brings Korean Fried Chicken to the Street

When I saw Luncher Dan L.’s report in the forums that a new cart had opened up on Fifth Avenue serving Korean Fried Chicken, dumplings and other Korean food, I knew I had to check it out.

Do You Miss the Treats Truck?: Schnitzel & Things isn't the only truck that got a jump start on Labor Day weekend... the Treats Truck also took the week off, but if you find yourself missing Kim too much there's a great interview on Fork in the Road that should keep you warm and fuzzy until she returns on Tuesday.
