Tasty Toast opened last summer in Point Breeze with a brunch centric menu. It’s a cute, welcoming space that seems to be well received by the neighborhood.

Cleavers, a the sandwich and shake spot, opened a few months ago to replace the burgers and shake spot, Good Stuff Eatery. The layout and concept is similar, order at the counter and use the upstairs floor if you’d like to dine in. Cheesesteaks and chicken cutlet sandwiches make up most of the menu, all hovering around $10

Last month, Snap Custom Pizza opened in Rittenhouse. My first thoughts were- I hate this name! It is basically the same name as another casual mini chain down the street! But then I learned that all pizzas and salads come with as many toppings as you want!!! Imagine the cheesy possibilities.

About 2 years ago, Bourbon and Branch opened in Northern Liberties with live music most evenings upstairs and a Southern influenced menu downstairs. I was invited to check out their recently updated menu.
I was happy to hear that the Nolibs funky American restaurant Suppa had opened a sandwich place a bit closer to where I live. Samwich occupies the small space at 6th and Catherine, which had formerly been the site of Blue Belly BBQ. There is a counter to eat at and a list of sandwiches that are mostly rifts on comfort food.

Underdogs has been going strong on 17th Street for a few years now. Back in 2012, Luncher John loved the beef chili covered “Michigan” dog. I have a deep love for hot dogs, but try not to eat them too often. Things have been hectic at work, and I decided a comforting hot dog was something I deserved. To make it more comforting, why not pair it with toppings from a classic elementary school sandwich and everyone’s favorite breakfast side dish.

Matt and Marie’s has been going strong with their Center City sandwich sales for a year and a half with a simple menu of about 10 sandwiches and a few salads. Currently, they are phasing out their “Pieta Pastrami” that featured shaved hot (don’t even, Wayne) pastrami, house-made dill pickled cucumbers & onions, and pepperoncini aioli and are replacing it with “The Testarossa.”
