Starbucks Woos me with Happy Hour and Cute Desserts

While I am so not in the habit of promoting big franchises, especially over priced ones, Starbucks has given me 2 reasons to stop by this week. 1) Half Price Frappuccino’s (from  3-5pm until the 15th) and 2) tiny little cute desserts. They have intelligently catered to my cheapness and love for tiny, cute things. You win this round, Starbucks. Check out the little cuties after the jump.

Korean Cheesesteak is a Great Idea

Back in September, Nick raved about the bulgogi platter at the Koja truck. On a return trip I wanted something less plattery, more portable, and as cheap as possible. My eyes immediately went to the cheapest meal on the menu- a $3 bulgogi cheesesteak. Same great meat, lower price, portable, perfect. Was this going to be kid sized though?

I May Be Bad, But I’m Perfectly Good At It: My Mozz Stick Topped Burger From Munchies

One year ago, Munchies opened on the Temple Campus to deliver late night food to hungry college students. Now, they still deliver, or you can pick up from their home base- a trailer on Norris Street. Looking at the online menu of college munchie inspired burger and chicken sandwiches (all $5-7), like the Natural Disaster with steak, chicken, fries, cheez whiz, more cheese, and fried onion,  I felt inspired to be bad.  I decided to BYO- build my own (they call it that, I didn’t make it up).

PROFILE: Philly Luncher “Bradd”

As is customary at Philly Lunch, every Tuesday we turn over the site to a different lunch’er for his or her recommendations for the best lunch in Philadelphia. This week it’s Bradd, a blogger who I met recently at Supper.

Name: Bradd

Age: 32

Occupation: PR and independent food blogger at 22nd and Philly

Where in Philly do you Work?: Philadelphia and Main Line

Favorite Kind of Food: Italian. A good sauce is just about my favorite thing in the world.

Least Favorite Kind of Food: Fast food. Yes, it can be good and I am no food snob, but it goes against everything I believe in about eating. Food is a common denominator in every culture in the world and brings people together. Good food is about conversation, family, friends, sharing and good times. It is not meant to be a $1 marketed concoction and eaten on the go.

Favorite Place(s) to Eat Lunch in Philly:
Anything in Reading Terminal Market. It’s the perfect lunch spot. The cheesesteak-stuffed pretzels at one of the Amish stands are a hidden gem.

Guapos Tacos for Lunch

In early March Garces’ Guapos Tacos truck made its debut, hitting the streets all over Philly for dinner and late night. Today marks the first day they are serving lunch during the work week. They will be at LOVE park today (and tomorrow) at 11:00, and judging by the lines that can accumulate,  I suggest getting there early or bringing a crossword puzzle to work on. I was able to try some of the tacos as a late night snack, but the menu is the same no matter what time of day.
