Pizza Cones Are Coming; Kyochon Getting Close

Korean fried chicken fans will be super excited to hear this news… yesterday Metromix discovered that the plywood has been taken down from the soon to be opened Kyochon on 5th btw. 32+33rd. But even more exciting than that is the place Eater discovered last week just a few doors down. Apparently Midtown is getting a place called K! Pizzacone. Aren’t familiar with the concept of a pizzacone? School yourself here.

Kyochon to Open on Friday- Scratch That… January!?!

You would think the news that Bon Chon was opening a new location on 38th btw. 7+8th, would light a Korean fried chicken fire under Kyochon’s ass (their new location on 32nd and 5th has been covered in plywood for 8 months now.) And it looks like it did… for a couple of hours anyway. A Friday opening would have been amazing. Now it’s January? WTF

Kyochon Is Definitely Not Opening Anytime Soon

Somebody commented earlier in the week that they had heard a rumor that the new Koreatown location of Kyochon (on 32nd & 5th) was open (this despite Grub Street’s report that they weren’t opening until June.)  The comment piqued my interest enough to call the location, and I ended up having a pretty strange conversation with the guy who answered.

Me: “Are you guys open yet”
Him: “We will open April…” and then he was cut off by somebody speaking in Korean in the background. He came back and said: “July”
Me: “So, you are opening in July?”
Him: “August”

Kyochon to Open in June

Grub Street re-breaks the news that Kyochon will be opening a location of their Korean fried chicken chain on the corner of 32nd and 5th Ave. “Details are still coming together, but we’re told it’ll have the same menu as the Flushing location and will open in June.”

Kyochon Finally Bringing Korean Fried Chicken to Midtown for Lunch!

I have always lamented the fact that all the Korean fried chicken places in Midtown are only open for dinner… which makes this news that much more exciting!  Kyochon, the Korean fried chicken chain with U.S. branches in Flushing and L.A., is replacing the Brooklyn Bagel Cafe on 32nd and 5th in Koreatown.  Called the “granddaddy of the Korean fried-chicken scene” Kyochon features fried chicken flavored with soy sauce, garlic, and ton of spices… oh, and there are spicy version available. And of course, the most important thing… it’s open for lunch!  No word on when it will open, but it can’t be soon enough.
