Get Indus Express Chaat for 8 Cents

8 cent Pop Burgers are fine, but this is kind of more exciting if you ask us!  A week from today 8 Coupons will be having another one of their Ocho Loco events, and the participating restaurant is Indus Express (on 48th btw. 5+6th).  On April 28th, from 2-6pm you can get a plate of their formidable chaat for just 8 cents.  If you’ve never had chaat before, it’s Indian street food made from some kind of fried item (samosas, cracker looking things, and/or rice crispy looking things) tossed with onions, tomatoes sometimes potatoes, yogurt, and chutney.  It’s the perfect summertime snack/lunch and all you have to do to score it for 8 cents is text yourself the coupon from the 8coupons site. Freeloaders engage.  (Because, quite frankly at 8 cents it might as well be free, right?)

Get Half Off Gyu Kaku: Not much on the menu at Gyu Kaku (on 50th St. just East of 3rd Ave.) is under $10, but with today's Groupon you won't have to limit yourself to the bibimbap. $20 gets you a $40 gift certificate, and you have until Midnight tonight to purchase the deal.

70% off Cafe Metro: You know how we feel about the Cafe Metro (aka the king of the generic deli) but when 70% off is involved the cheapskate in us takes over.  Today only on KGB Deals you can get a $10 Cafe Metro gift certificate for $3. (Warning, the deal expires at Midnight, and there are only 500 gift certificates available.)

Beacon’s $20 Bar Deal is Too Good To Pass Up

Nothing about Beacon (on 55th btw. 5+6th) says Midtown Lunch, but we do like their burger… and their latest deal is kind of too great to pass up. All day long at the bar (the regular bar, not the burger bar) $19.95 will get you 2 drinks (house cocktail, wine or beer) and a burger or wood oven pizza.  Out of the Midtown Lunch price range?  Sure… but if you’re looking for a liquid lunch, or a kick ass happy hour/dinner deal, you’re not going to do better than that in Midtown. Free Thursday Hangover Eats Alert

It’s official!  Famous chefs handing out free food from a branded truck is now part of the official PR gimmick handbook.  If you didn’t read about this on Grub Street last week, here’s a friendly little reminder.  Tomorrow (Thursday) Laurent Tourondel (of BLT restaurant fame) will take to the streets in a truck handing out free smoked bacon pizettas, spicy sirloin sliders, Corned beef hash egg sandwiches, and virgin bloody marys. It’s some sort of post-hangover thing sponsored by Tabasco.  The truck will be in Midtown from 7 to 9:30am (on 48th btw. 5+6th) before heading Downtown from Noon to 2pm (on Broadway across from the “charging bull sculpture”).

Mustang Cafe is Open, And Everything is 50% Off

Dave Cook from Eating in Translation noticed this new spot going up a few weeks ago (on 38th btw. 5+6th). And according to Lunch’er “Leandro” they are now open and offering 50% off everything this whole week. The menu Dave photographed is a fairly generic Midtown deli menu (Salad, Deli, Tex Mex, Udon, Teriyaki) but for half off it might be worth a looksee! Early adopters, let us know how it is in the comments…
