Piece of Chicken Gets the Ed Levine Treatment: Ed Levine heeds my advice and hits up the just out of bounds Midtown Lunch'ing favorite Piece of Chicken on 45th btw. 8+9th Avenue. "A- for the fried chicken and the mashed potatoes, B for everything else on the menu." Bonus Reveal: This is the not the last you'll be hearing about fried chicken on Midtown Lunch today.

Will A Celeb Please Bring In N Out to NY?: If Kanye West can bring Fatburger to Chicago, can't we get some good fast food in Midtown? We've got a lot of rich celebs in this city. One of them must be a fan of In N Out Burger. I will also settle for Baja Fresh or Panda Express. Come on you rich bastards. Somebody pony up.

Farmers’ Market Ends on Friday: Blondie and Brownie remind everybody that this is the last week for the Rock Center Farmers' Market, next to the rink, between 50+51st (and 5th+6th avenues.)  Friday will be the last day you can pick up fruit, veggies, cheese, sweets and more.

Comment of the Day: MFC asking about a generic deli recommended by today's Profiled:Midtown Lunch'er: "Why did Dunhill name itself Dunhill? Was poomountain already taken?”

$1 Taco Update:Toloache Not Answering Phone: 12:06pm - Just called to place an order for my $1 tacos.  Sent to voicemail.  Voicemail transfers me to operator. Operator doesn't answer. Voicemail hangs up on me.  Call back.  During voicemail I press 0. Phone rings and rings. Asks me to leave a message. Taco fail. May have to walk down and see what is going on. Not good.  12:09 UPDATE:  They answered the phone.  "Sorry sir.  We are not taking orders at this moment.  We are very busy."  No shit.  What did you expect?

Old Bridge Deli is Back Open: Emailed by Lunch'er Howard: "Old Bridge Deli (on 41st & Lex) reopened today. Don't know if I'd trust the freshness of stuff yet, since the food there is at least 9 days old."  We'll take that under advisement...

Comment of the Day: Posted by Rudy McBagel about my lunch review of Tad's Steaks: "It’s like the first 25 minutes of Saving Private Ryan."

I’m Alive: I survived Tad's. Full report coming Monday.

Belly Deli Goes Belly Up: This just came in to the ML inbox: "Just went by my go-to sandwich place, Belly Delly Deli on Broadway bet. 49+50th and see that it has been seized by the NYS Tax Dept for unpaid taxes."  Poor Superman.  That totally generic Midtown deli was one of his favorites.

Magnolia Bakery Coming to Midtown: From the paper of record: "Another branch of this Greenwich Village bakery is to open in late September in Midtown: 1240 Avenue of the Americas (49th Street)."  Oh boy.
