Contributor Stalking: Ice Cream, Buns, & Dim Sum

Do you wonder what the ML contributors do when they’re not eating lunch in Midtown? (They’re actually pretty easy to stalk!)

Morning Bun
Sorry, but you have to go all the way to S.F. for this

This past weekend Brownie was in Maine eating ice cream, while her partner in crime Blondie was in San Francisco eating some amazing look sweets from Tartine and Bi-Rite Creamery. Danny was in Chinatown discovering a cart that serves long tzi tang (a sweet Chinese treat made from peanuts and spun sugar), while Clay hit up Jin Fong for some Dim Sum. Chris H is a big fan of the pizza at Totale in the East Village, and here is a video of Amy making a peanut butter and banana sandwich in Providence.

DOH Letter Grades Have Begun to Appear

zib

Couldn’t help but notice that DOH letter grades are starting to pop up all over Midtown.  Unsurprisingly, the ultra clean looking Zibetto Espresso Bar got an A, as did E-Mo in Koreatown.  But we’re a little more interested in the grades that will gross out our boring co-workers (like seeing a Cafe Metro or McDonald’s with a C), or something that would be shocking to Midtown Lunchers (like Ying Du getting an A).  Seen anything interesting?  Post it in the comments, or send us a photo…

50% off Atomic Wings: We've never officially written about the out of bounds location of Atomic Wings (on 9th Ave. btw. 39+40th), but they get mentioned a lot in the comments and forums (and there was that time they almost went to war with 2 Bros. Pizza).  Curious about their hot wings?  This coupon gets you $25 worth of wings for just $12.

Eggs Travaganza Cart Expands Lunch Offerings

Eggs Travaganza Cart

As if I needed more reasons to stalk the ML Twitter Tracker (hopefully it will be fixed soon!), this week it brought me news of several new lunch menu items from the Eggs Travaganza Cart (on 52nd and Park). These are the same folks that brought me that de-freaking-licious Bacon and Chorizo Grilled Cheese sandwich, so naturally I had to check it out.

Twitter Tracker Alternative

Because of yesterday’s oauthcalypse the ML Twitter Tracker is on the fritz… but here is what we know so far today. QBA Kitchen will be on 44th btw. 5+6th is on 47th btw. Park+5th, Rickshaw is on 57th & 8th, Mexicue is on 52nd and Park, Eddie’s Pizza is on 52nd and 6th, Street Sweets is on 52nd and Lex, and Cupcake Stop is on 58th and 8th. We’ll update this post as more info comes in. (And if there are any oauth experts out there, looking for some freelance work, email us!)

Asian Grill & Noodle Cart Pops Up on 50th

A new cart called “Grill & Noodle” has popped up right next to the Daisy May’s BBQ Cart on 50th and 6th Ave. According to Lunch’er “Matt Z” yesterday was their second day parking in that spot and the owner said they would try and park there again today. The menu is a Japanese/Chinese hybrid with lo mein, casanova chicken and steak (whatever the hell that is!) and teppanyaki. Early adopters, let us know how it is in the comments.

Final Days of the Rock Center Farmer’s Market: Where has the summer gone? This week marks the last of the Rock Center Farmer's market for the season. You have today, tomorrow and Friday to get your fill of Amish country baked goods (hello, whoopie pies!) and fresh fruit, veggies, and bread on the North Plaza at 50th Street.
