Midtown Lunch

Last week we challenged Tri Tip Grill (in the Rock Center concourse) to introduce a kick ass breakfast sandwich. They answered the call this week and said that if they sold 100 of the sandwiches they would add it permanently the menu. Well they just informed us that 73 have been sold, so tomorrow morning is our last chance to hit the 100 mark. The sandwich is available until 11am.

Were you one of the 100 lucky people who scored a free taco at Social Eatz today, Top Chef Angelo Sosa’s new restaurant on 53rd btw. 2+3rd Ave.  The tacos were gone in 20 minutes, and we have to say they look pretty damn good.  We got this photo from @mariaalex who had this to say about the freebie: “DELICIOUS! a little messy, but great overall. just the right amount of spice!”    Missed it today?  They’re officially opening for dinner starting tonight (you can see the full menu here).  Or you can score another freebie tomorrow at Noon.  They haven’t announced what it’s going to be yet, but it’s looking it will be posted on their Facebook page soon.

Earlier this week I saw on the ML Twitter Tracker that in honor of their return to the streets the Bian Dang Truck (aka NYC Cravings) was selling their #1 and #2 (chicken or pork chops over rice with pork sauce) for just $5 all week long

After reading about Crisp’s new falafel burgers I knew the day would come when my stomach would crave falafel, burger, and fries at the same time and BAM! A few days ago it happened. I went in thinking that I’d get the classic or maybe a chili cheese, until I saw that a new burger has appeared on the menu: The Baba-Burger ($6.25). Babaganoush and goat cheese on a falafel burger?

This is about to get crazy!

When the Joyride Truck first hit midtown last summer for a short spell they were parking near Rock Center, close-ish to my office . As a froyo lover/caffeine addict, it seemed the truck seemed destined to join my truck favs, but alas it wasn’t meant to be. They pulled up stakes and moved to Midtown East and elsewhere in Manhattan. Last week courtesy of the ML Twitter Tracker I saw that Joyride had added oatmeal to their menu and I knew I had to make a special trip to check it out

Angelo Sosa’s new eastside sandwich shop Social Eatz has been doing preview dinners all week long, and according to the New York Times is going to open to the public for dinner tomorrow night (3/10). Sadly, lunch is still a few weeks away but they’re going to make it up to us by giving away free food every day at Noon for the next week and a half! Eater reports that tomorrow they’ll give away 100 free tacos starting at noon, and the promotion will be repeated Thursday through Friday of next week (weekends not included.) Freeloaders… prepare to engage.
