Only 3 Weeks Left to Enjoy Miss Softee

DSC04139

Miss Softee, who has gotten lots of attention from the Midtown Lunch’ing faithful in recent weeks, is “retiring” from the soft serve game in 3 weeks.  She’s leaving the game at the end of September to do some traveling, so if you want to get any last minute cones (or flirting) in, now is the time. Also, just as a FYI, she got kicked out of her normal daytime spot (on 40th and 5th) on Friday due to the Fashion Week madness going on in Bryant Park.  She tried moving to 41st and 5th, but the cops would have none of it and it isn’t entirely clear if she’ll be allowed to return even after Fashion Week ends.  She had her truck “Maddy” parked on 47th & 6th on Friday but I’d suggest you follow her on twitter (or the Midtown Lunch Twitter Tracker) just to be safe.

Fancy Fast Food Makes Mousse Out of Miss Softee

Fancy Fast Food Makes Mousse Out of Miss Softee

Erik from the website Fancy Fast Food visited the Miss Softee truck on Wednesday to fancify some soft serve, and the whole thing was caught on video.  I don’t know if turning ice cream into chocolate mousse is as impressive as turning McNuggets into Chicken Confit… but the video is still awesome to watch.  You get a “tour” of the truck, plus get to hear Miss Softee’s favorite pick up lines.  Spoiler: Covering her in food from the truck is a common theme.

Fancy Fast Food Takes on Miss Softee Tonight at 7:30pm

Have you seen the blog Fancy Fast Food?  It’s this pretty amazing site that takes items from ordinary fast food chains, and turns them into extraordinary looking dishes you could imagine being served at a fancy restaurant. I don’t know how they taste, but they all look pretty amazing.  Greatest hits include the White Castle Sacks they turned into spanish tapas, the Wendy’s Baconator combo turned into a Napoleon, and farfalle made from a Subway $5 footlong.

Want to see them in action?  The dude who runs the site will be doing his thing tonight at Miss Softee’s ice cream truck and filming it.  They’re keeping the actual creation hush hush until it goes down, but Midtown Lunch’ers are all invited to watch, and sample the creations on 47th and 6th around 7:30pm.

Miss Softee Baked Today’s Special Herself

specials

It looks like Miss Softee, the Queen Frostine Ice Cream Truck driver, was inspired by her ice cream sandwich mash up with the Treats Truck last week.  Yesterday was her day off, and she spent it baking.  The result?  Two specials today, featuring homemade goodies.  First, a $6 sundae with a WARM brownie, vanilla ice cream, choc syrup, and a little butterscotch, plus whipped cream (that’s just a model, you can get whatever toppings you want.) The second special is also $6, and features vanilla ice cream topped with a “chilled berry-misu” (whatever that is!)  Sounds good.  She’ll be parked on 40th St. & 5th Ave. from around 12:30pm until around 6:30pm.  After that you can follow her on Twitter, or the Midtown Lunch Twitter Tracker.

Treats Truck and Miss Softee Team Up to Make Ultimate Ice Cream Sandwich

mashup

Ask and ye shall receive!!! Miss Softee (who we profiled on Tuesday, from the Queen Frostine crew) has teamed up with the Treats Truck to create an ice cream sandwich! A squirt of soft serve, sandwiched between two (delicious) Treats Truck chocolate chip cookies.  Amazing… don’t let the weather discourage you from this one.  I love it when insane dreams become a reality.  Oh, and did I mention it’s only $4 (which is a great deal considering the two cookies alone from the Treats Truck would cost $2.)

Check out a photo of this wonderful creation after the jump…
