Reminder: GRK Opens On Fulton St. Today

grk sign

After a couple of delays the Greek restaurant GRK is opening today at 11 a.m. on Fulton St. (btw. William & Nassau). We’ve already walked you through the menu, but you can expect yeeros (aka various meats cooked on spits) and fresh and frozen Greek yogurt with sweet and savory topping options. Some of the prices top the $10 mark, but we’ll be on hand to try the food and give you a rundown tomorrow. Early adopters, leave us your thoughts in the comments.

GRK’s Officially Opening Next Wednesday Serving Meats On A Spit, Yogurt

Word was that new chainy-looking Greek restaurant GRK on Fulton St. (btw. William & Dutch) would open on Sept. 6 (or so said the NY Times), but they announced on Twitter that the date was delayed as so often happens with new eateries. Yesterday we got word that they’re actually opening for lunch on Monday UPDATE: We just heard that the opening has been delayed to Wednesday at 11 a.m. A look at the menu shows a few similarities to nearby Pita Press, but less in the way of vegetarian options unless you want a salad. This is a place for carnivores and lovers of Greek yogurt.

Ice Cream, Clam Chowder & Baked Goods Spotted At All Good Things

Fancy food market All Good Things opened last weekend and while it’s not exactly a lunch destination, you can definitely find some tasty eats here. There’s ice cream, doughnuts, fancy coffee, cured meats and cheeses and some other items to make yourself a midday meal or find a snack. See the inside and what vendors are there after the jump.

Whole Foods Dosateria/Lassi Bar Opens Today

As we told you last week, Whole Foods Tribeca has replaced its sushi bar with a Dosateria that will also serve lassi shakes. The collaboration with Cafe Spice opens today serving both vegetarian and meat versions of dosas, uttapams and Bombay Frankies and the menu will range in price from $4 to $11.95 and be open from breakfast until 8 p.m.  The menu includes a breakfast dosa, and one involving butter chicken, brie cheese and mango chutney so there’s some fusion happening here. If you happen to check it out today, let us know how the food and prices are in the comments.

Cheap Eats Invading The FiDi: Sabor De Mexico, Roll And Go Outposts Spotted

roll and go fixed

After a long, boring drought of new places to eat for $10 or less within the Downtown Lunch coverage area, we’re now being inundated with choices. I just reported on a place called grk coming to Fulton St. between Dutch and William, as well as Baked by Melissa opening and now that same stretch of street has spawned one more option with Roll and Go signage up touting not only pizza (will it be $1 like the locations on Broadway and Canal St.? The price on the sign seems to have been blacked out) but rotisserie chicken and shakes. Weird combo, but whatever. When I walked around the corner onto Nassau St. I spotted signage for another cheap eats option. Read more »

Signage, Hint Of Menu Items Up At Forthcoming grk

grk signs

There’s no actual menu up for the chain-y looking grk coming to Fulton St. (btw. Dutch & William), but the items mentioned at the bottom of the window make it seem like it will be  similar to Pita Press on Cedar St. Among the dishes on tap will be gyros (which they spell yeeros), Greek yogurt, tzatziki, Greek salad and “freshly baked pita bread.” So nothing totally outside the box, but a decent option if you’re not in the mood for Crisp, Hale & Hearty or Chipotle that are all located on the same block.

Stamina Grill To Give Energy Kitchen A Run For Its Money

2012-08-14 15.58.51

Get ready everybody, because healthy pizza’s coming to the Financial District! Yesterday I spotted this sign for Stamina Grill & Juice Bar in one of the many papered up windows along Nassau St. between John & Fulton, promising smoothies, chopped salads, wraps and this pizza. This storefront is diagonally across the street from Energy Kitchen which also traffics in wraps and foods that will make you want to go run a 5K, so it will be interesting to see how the menus differ (and find out how they made pizza healthy).
